THE YEAR HIS school year has been on the whole very successful The standard of scholar ship has improved as is shown by the fact that the school average was higher than ever before and the percentage of failure in examinations was markedly smaller than in former years The tone of athletics in general has been excellent and the standard of good sportsmanship high The work of the various societies has been carried on with unflagging enthusiasm There has been very little illness in the school In club athletics the Delphians excelled winning the championship in football hockey and baseball Their superior team play and their abilitv to use every opportunity to its best advantage enabled them to defeat both the lsthmians and Old Hundreds The Del phians also won the track The season at the pond was long and successful each club having eight full crews and consistently maintaining a fine spirit The Halcyons won the first sixth and eighth crew races The Shattucks won the second third fourth fifth and seventh crew races The interest in golf tennis squash and other sports has been great The lsthmians won the squash championship the Old Hundreds won the cross country runs and the Harvard Second Varsity team The SPS tennis team lost to Andover and won from Manchester High School and VV1lton Mens Club the champions of New Hampshire The S P S golf team played one match which they won The SPS football team was very successful winning from Noble and Greenoughs in an exciting and hard fought game by 1 score of 20 7 The S PS hockey team lost to Harvard lireshmen 2 O and also to Dartmouth Fresh m n IO They defeated the Princeton freshmen IO and the Yale Freshmen Zl The game with Kent School which was the hardest fought and most exciting game of the season was won by the S PS l0 The S PS baseball team defeated Concord High School 53 The work of the literary Societies has b en consistently excellent and the standard v V i ' ' 7 A y x . . . , S Y . . . i , A 1 L , , 3 1 . .
