There were two letter men and two substitutes of last year's team back and from these the coaches were able to develop a very efficient defensive machine. The offense, although rather weak at first, improved steadily as the season . progressed and gave a very excellent account of itself in the later games. The season opened on December 19 with a game with the Princeton Freshmen n the new Hobey Baker Memorial Rink at Princeton The result was a 10 victory for S PS The school team played better than the score might indicate but due to lack of practise, their shooting was slow and inaccurate at times Our next game was with the undefeated team of the Harvard Freshmen on Februarv 7 Although the SPS team had improved immenselv since the Princeton game it was defeated 20 The game was most exciting and was excellently played throughout A week later on February l-1 the S PS defeated the Yale Freshmen team 2 l Yale was considerably more outclassed than the score shows, as the puck was in the vicinity of their goal most of the time The most exciting and certainly the most successful outside game from our point of view was played between St Pauls and Kent School on Monday February lo The Kent team as well as the entire school greatly appreciated permission being granted to hold the game in the morning, owing to the fact that the warm weather would melt the ice surface before afternoon The S P S by constant teamwork defeated the visitors by a score of 10 although Kent was superior in both skating and stick work Kent however laid too much confidence in their individual stars, rather than their team as a whole The last game of the season was played under very unfavorable conditions The school team seemed a bit over trained and lacked the speed and dash they showed in the Kent game They were defeated by the close score of l 0 by the Dartmouth Freshmen Great praise is due to Messrs Fisher and Jeffries for the excellent team that they turned out S P S HOQlxl'X Tl XXI Silver thoi ne Right 'f 'f1 P D S toxin lixi HN s Left pymq gblvutel Right W ing enm on Rzglzt Defense Left Defense I g Goal 0 P jack on Manville Ctnfyf XV1l,0n Baldllm I fcapll Let Wm A Min, 1 A I I i , , v ' ' 4, 4' Q A Y V X N ' 7 . , . , 7 - i y I - v n K .................... , U JZ!
