We are a year older and a certain part of our lives is gone--never to be regained. The 1962-63 school year held much for us. We were wee- juned and madrased --we learned and experienced--we grew. We entered as freshmen through the doors of St. Pauls High. There have been many doors to open, explore, and enter. Some doors have been closed permanently--some will remain open forever. The SA-TA-PA staff, 1963, has tried to compile these fleeting moments of a year into one book. This is YOUR book. Now, we go on to open other doors as underclassmen. The Seniors will leave us--going out the same door in which they entered four years ago. Yes, THROUGH THESE DOORS. . . Contents Through These Doors . . With- out you, our school would be less exciting, less active, and less enjoyable. To you, the teenager is a vital person with energy and intelligence. You help them with problems, mature them with responsibility, and compli- ment them with sincerity. We, the SA-TA- PA staff of 1963, do humbly dedicate this edition to two people who are--in essence-- the spirit of Saint Paul High School-- MR. JIMMY JAMES MR. This year's team was composed of five seniors, two juniors, and four sophomores. Tri-captains Danny McColl, Oscar Sel- lers, and Richard Owens, greatly aided in the victorious season, while John Mew was notably outstanding for the defensive team. Steve Hall put in many winning baskets and was equally good on the defense. The most exciting game of the season came with defeat of the Red Springs Devils by eleven points! We, the annual staff of 1963, take pride in our work and hope that we have pleased you with this YOUR yearbook. At the first meeting of the staff this summer, it was decided with great excitement that the 1963 SA-TA-PA would be above all things, the very best we could produce. The next goal we set was to make this annual different! We increased the pages, allowing for eight new auto- graph pages. We sold plastic covers in hopes that this, too, would give lasting life and enhancing beauty to our annual. The most obvious change is the arrangement of the annual. In capturing the events of a full and busy year at SPHS, we decided to take themin consecutive order. This way we could save the classes for last, and as the Seniors will leave us this year--we know we have saved the BEST for last. The annual staff hopes that we have succeeded in producing an annual that you can be proud to own. God bless you all. Sincerely, The annual staff 6 g K L0 n ,f -+ S. f fi.
