Maybe to most people that date is insignificant, but to 98 girls and boys of St. Pauls School, it meant the beginning of a new life - a wonderful, exciting life, for this was our freshman year. We entered high school with a feeling of awe, adventure and curiosityg but soon we got into the swing of our high school activities with Mr. Fleetwood, Mr. Deveney, and Mr. Duncan as our sponsors. Our Freshman year was very exciting but just as exciting, if not more so, was our Sophomore year. We weren't the babies anymore, and we, too, were amused at the blunders of the freshmen, bringing to mind our own experiences of the past year. Our homerooms were those of Mrs. Parnell and Mr. Crutchfield. Officers for the year were Betty Ann Northrop, presidentg Billy Williford, vice-presidentg Annie Mack Hall, secretaryg Duncan McCormick, treasurer. Whoopeel Juniorsl A dream realized at last! Miss Lane and Mr. Fleetwood were our home room teachers, and officers were Luther Harrell, Annie Mack Hall, Morris Britt, and Duncan McCormick-president, vice-president, secretary, and treas- urer, respectively.- We had a year full of excitement, starting off with the arrival of our class rings in January. Everyone was thrilled and declared they were the most beautiful rings ever. We were very proud of them. Our grademothers entertained us with an Easter Party. We added to our school treasury by selling magazine sub- scriptions and serving the Lion's Club suppers. That something-to-talk-about' came on May 1st when we entertained the seniors and faculty at Blanchard 's Banquet Hall in Lumberton, the theme being Blue Moon. On Friday, April 10, we presented two one-act plays 'Aira de Capo' and 'The Last of the Loweries, under the direction of Mr. Richard Powers. We closed our year looking forward to becoming Dignified seniors. On September 3, 1953, we entered the home room of Mr. R.E. Duke, Ir. Every one worked to make our Halloween Carnival a glorious success. We are planning to give our play 'You Can't Take It With You in the early spring. We are looking for- ward to our trip to Washington in April. The Class officers for our Senior year are Harold Herndon, presidentg Luther Harrell, vice-president, Elizabeth Hair, secretaryg and Morris Britt, treasurer. Our Class colors are red and white, our flower, the red rose, and our motto, 'Patience and Time conquer all things. The mascots chosen for this year are Jody Kinlaw and Jackie Powers. We are looking forward to a happy successful life as we go into the world away from the protective arms of our beloved Alma Mater, a place dear to all our hearts. JoAnn McCormic, Historian -is ' 531 W. LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT We the Senior Class of 1954, considering ourselves thoroughly drilled in English, History and Economics and confident that we are the sweetest and possibly the smartest class yet to enter or leave our beloved school, wish to leave our last will and testament to be executed in the order that follows. Ethelene Johnson, Frieda Johnson, Testators ?za I received a letter to day from an old classmate, Mary Amie Evans, who is now a nurse at Duke Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. As usual she has all the latest gossip conceming the class of '54. It seems that Harold Hemdon and Duncan McCormick are now lending their football talents to the Washington Redskins. Hickman of the Navy and Capt, Cribb of the Air Force are both stationed in California. Mrs. S. G. She is an operator for a telephone company. LP, Lambert has just completed his modem drive-in, located on highway 301.
