LATIN Latin has been wrongly termed a dead lan- suage: it lives as the tongue of the Universal Church used down through the centuries in the chants of the Mass and in the agefold hymns: it lives as the basis for modern culture --flaws, architecture. sculpture. and philosophy, to mention but a few spheres of I,atin influence: it lives as the cornerstone of the European lan- guages of today. During the three year course. two great leaders are studied: Caesar. the military wiz- ard and Cicero. the orator and politician. Dramatizations serve as pleasant changes in the curriculum.
