What is a priest? A priest is the one who puts our consciences at ease, who consuls us in time of difficulty, and most important he is the one who keeps the fire lit under our faith. St. Paul's has been fortunate in having priests who meet all these requirements fully. Students who look back on their school days at St. Paul's will be eternally grateful for the difficult but excellent job which the priests have undertaken for us. After a three year absence, the students of St. Paul's were happy to welcome back Father Michael Ricker as principal. He has been willing to give his time in making St. Pau1's a fine, well-rounded school, socially and spiritually. Besides his priestly duties, Father instructed the freshmen and seniors in religion and sociology. Father William Bodart is one of the best examples of the down-to-earth manner of the priests at St. Paul's. This was demonstrated when, as CYO moderator, he took part in a pie-throwing brawl at the annual Parent's Night. In a more serious vein, Father teaches the sophomores the fundamentals of their religion. fiwiiiy i J, 355232, f. V Instructing the juniors in religion was the main task which Father John Laudick undertook in his first year at St. Pau1's parish. He was also in charge of teaching religion to the public high school stu- dents. Father frequently visited the grade school to instruct the children in their faith.

Our Bishop, Rev. George J. Rehring, is to most of us only a name, but he is really much more than thatg he is our representative to our council, he is Godts instrument who conferred on us the sacrament of Confirmation, he is the one who bestows upon our priests the gift of Holy Orders, and he is also in charge of all the high schools in the diocese. F' A'l' ' Father Burger, our es- teemed pastor, has taken an active interest in all the varied phases of parish life and he considers the high school one of his main concerns. Since his arrival in 1961, he has taken over his many duties with agility and boldness, al- ways trying to better con- ditions in the school andinthe rest of the parish as well. Father will long be remem- bered in the hearts and the minds of the grateful students who have attended St. Paul's because of his many welcomed changes in school policy. We thank him with our loyalty and gratitude.
