Turning back the hands of time, Cathedral 's Glee Club presented the operetta, 'A Waltz Dream with music by Oscar Straus. Back, back, back to the year 1912 and the land Sylvania went Glee Club members. Capturing senior leads were joy landiorio cast as Niki, Mary Eileen O'Shea portraying Kay Robinson, Dolores Caldwell and Shirley Gross as Prin- cess Helene and Prince Rupert. Shirley Henry portrayed King Maximilian and Marietta Scuilli was cast as Princes Matilda. Others awarded speaking parts were Shirley Abt, Myfanwy Kimicata, Nancy O'Connor, Margaret O'Hara, joan Rodgers, Ellen Regan, DeSales Bright, and Mary Ann Byrne. Seniors dancing to Love 's Roundelay' were Bernadette Barrett and Nancy Pullano. Portray- ing men and women of the Court were seniors Doris Crouse, Alice Cunningham, Norma jean Donatelli, Rosemary Halferty, Barbara Shields, and Sally Somers. Wllll Yllll ll A Il GAY The final curtain fell about 11:00 p.m. on january 12, leaving a contented audience and a happy cast. Indeed, under Father Griffith's capable direction, these thespians gave an unforgettable performance. In supporting roles were Betsy Murray and Shirley Henry as Mrs. Skinner, Bill Barna as Otis Skinner, and Duchene King and Barbara Fagan as Madame de la Croix. Also included were Bernadette Barrett and Dolores Caldwell, Rita and Carole Ruch, Barbara Shields and Emilia Donatelli, Peggy Steele and Gloria Arnone, Lois Rihn and Mary Eileen O'Shea, MargaretO'Hara and Carol Ertzman. The male roles were played by Centralites, jack Briley, Mike Nash, and jack McGough. ln the class play, Our Hearts Were Young and Gay, we traveled on the wings of time back to the 'roaring twenties, when Cornelia Otis Skin- new and Emily Kimbrough made an ocean voyage to Paris. The plights they had, the troubles they encountered, the diseases they overcame, the act- ing lessons they took - kept an appreciative audi- ence in a gale of laughter throughout the whole play. The double cast, headed by jean Roney and Eleanor Morin as Cornelia, joan Reilly and Teresa Prendergast as Emily, gave fine performances that will long be remembered. 37
