Harriet's quiet and serene, A -fe-s ef PARK-H1 e- CLASS POEM---i946 Ladies and gentlemen, we have here for you A poem that's corny all the way through. However, we hope to express in this verse the love for each other we felt from the first. When.we were Freshmen and took English nine, We drove poor Miss Zeizke out of her mind. As sophomores we had a wild biology class, Miss Ludden stopped teaching-alack and alas. Our Junior class play would have been a suc- cess, If we'd worked a bit harder and fooled around less, And now we are Seniors and leaving forever, The teachers all hope that we'll come back never. Pat and Al are liked by all, Stars in both football and basketball. Our football captain, Donald Gundy, Spends his time eating sundaes. i'Johnny, Johnny, that's the sound We hear whenever Jeanne's around. Then there's Isabel, a cheerful gal, To all of us she's been a pal. Ruth's a leader in our class, A cheerful, smiling, happy lass. To Sophomore girls Irv's a dream, Like Sinatra, for him they scream. We would have seen everything under the sun, If Willard didn't have his work all done. Here's a gal that's really super, A leader in everything-Dorothy Cooper. Helen admits she would like to go, To the Marine base in San Diego. Dick makes the money, strange at it seems. He paid for the annual with the pop corn machine. Lois has dozens of men on her string, Blue eyes, blond curls, she's really keen. Molly-Ann is new this year, But she gets around a lot, we hear. Florence is quiet and refined, 1t's hard to find a girl of her kind. Bette Mae is full of pep, When you're with her you're really hep. Freddy Brandes is alreet, A scholar, leader and athlete. Thinking of her handsome Marine. This ends our poem, We now Say uadieux, Farewell to the Park High, Teachers and underclassmen too. Margie is a Navy fan, His name is Johnny-what a man! I I SOPHOMORE INITIATION, OCTOBER 1945 This year was our big event which the Sophomores won't forget. The girls were dressed with overalls cut off above the knees. They wore T shirts. Men's shoes with dif- ferent colored knee stockings. They were blackened like Negroes on one side of their face, arms, and legs, on the other side of their face they wore make-up. Their hair was braided with different colored ribbons. They carried a man's lunch bucket full of bricks. The boys were dressed in long white underwear with shorts over the top. One oxford and the other foot was bare. They wore wide brimmed ladies' hats and very much make-up. They were carrying large ladies' purses. In the afternoon we had a very exciting program with one exciting moment which was David Briggs being rocked by Carol Zacharias and fed warm milk out of a baby bottle. In the evening we had a dance at the gym. We think the Sopho- mores were all very good sports. 10
