--.------W -. -Q--M -5- PARK-HI -1- Y- 44-6- CLASS HISTORY On September 1, 1942, 42 boys and girls entered the ninth grade at St. Paul Park. Since then we have learned what elimination can do for now we only have 18 members. They are: Florence Allen, Margie Berfeldt, Frederic Brandes, Dorothy Cooper, Richard Godfrey, Molly-Ann Griffin, Donald Gundy, Bette Mae Hall, Alvin Hannestad, Helen Hartigan, Irving Jerry, Jeanne McMillan, Harriet Moore, Willard Nollet, Lois Obri- ham, Ruth Sward, Patrick Waldner, and Is- abel Witzke. Our ninth grade class officers were: President ..........-.. - Ruth Sward Vice President ........ Curtis Kelsey Treasurer -,-,,.,,,.. Florence Allen Secretary ......... Jeanne McMillan Student Council Member .......... ----U-,,,--,- ,,---- Donald Stankie Class Adviser ........ Miss Welander During the year Donald Stankie moved to St. Paul, so we elected Floyd Hunter as the new Student Council member. Ruth Sward was the Freshmen Candidate for Queen of the Winter Carnival. The big event of the year was a party at the gymna- slum. In the tenth grade we were much wiser. That year most of us took biology. Remem- ber the nine cats we cut up? Our class offi- cers were as follows: President -- ...... .... P at Waldner Secretary ............. Lois Obriham Treasurer ........... Eunice Doville Student Council Member .......... -- ------------------- Norman Holmes Class Adviser' ........... Miss Zieske Bette Mae Hall was our candidate for the Carnival Queen. This year the big event was our initiation. The girls dressed in old house dresses. They had to wash their hair the night before and couldn't comb it out the next day. High heels and colored anklets were worn on their feet. No make-up was allowed. The boys wore earrings with their hair greased and parted in the middle. They had to wear make-up, short pants above their knees, half socks, and no shoes. Each one of us had to Wear a sign with a silly say- ing on it. Cute, weren't we? In the latter part of the year we gave a Return Party for the seniors. The class officers for the Eleventh Grade Were I President ....... ---- Fred Brandes, Vice President ......... Miss Teagles This year we have a Sadie Hawkins dance. Helen Hartigan was our candidate for Queen of the Winter Carnival. We sold stationery to make money. We started our class play, You Can't Take It With You . We selected our theme for the Prom Songs of the Island. No one really thought we were going to give it, but we did. Ruth Sward was elected to the National Honor Society. The Twelfth Grade class officers were: President -. 1........... Dick Godfrey Vice President ........ Willard Nollet Sewefary .............. Gasperlin This year we really got down to busi- ness with Dick Godfrey making our class money with the pop corn machine, and his organization of the selling at the Little Five tournaments. We gave a play this year to the surprise of the rest of the school. Salad Days was the title. Lois Obriham was our candidate for the Carnival Queen. The class took a trip to Hastings. Dorothy Cooper and Fred Brandes were elected to the National Honor Society.
