COACH NORBERT GETZ Basketball St. Paul's opened their basketball season by bowing to Yorktown, 55 to 31. The Trojans, with plenty of material, had a poor season, winning only two of eighteen games, although most of the games were fairly close. The two victims were Banquo, 44-211, and jefferson Township in an overtime battle, 62-61. Paul Dwyer with 193 points for a 10.2 average, was the Trojans' leading scorer: but we had balance rather than one big pointmaker. The Trojans had four other cagers above the 100 point mark - Vinnie Belville with 148, Don Monks with 131, Cappy Orr with 111, and Tom Huneck with 1114. Six of the Varsitymen, Dwyer, Monks, McNamara, Huneck, Kriegbaum and Orr are Seniors. Tom Shildmyer and Manuel Guerrero, one of the top reserves, are juniors, Vinnie Belville and Dick Barsha are Sophomores. The Trojans used both styles of defense - zone and man to man. ln the sectionals, the Trojans were swamped by the Van Buren Aces, 61-22. The tension during the game was high but we just cou1dn't get going. Norbert Getz, our coach, has done a fine job throughout our season play and we hope he will be back next year.
