Today Begins In Th Past One thing hasn't changed! Seems like the phones were just as crowded back then as now. The booths prob- ably got worn out - that is why we have new stands now. 6 lj THEME So you think your uniforms are bad now! In the first few years of the school, girls were forced to wear this, Thank God for changes! Former drill team moderator, Mrs. Aceret, and callers, Audree Walsh and Patty Fratello shown discussing a routine while modeling their drill team outfits. In looking at St Paul s history many of its traditions rules styles and activities may seem different to us lt is important however that we realize that our tradi tions rules and activities were influenced by our predecessors On a similar note we have to remember that twenty five years from now our actions will be looked upon as outdated also Change is mevita e and necessary if growth is to occur. THE WAY IT WAS -The school was segregated. The girls had classes in the 100 and 200 buildings, while the boys had theirs in the 300 and 400 buildings. -There was no talking in the halls and students walked in two single file lines. -Infractions, demerits and detentions existed as forms of punishment. -Freshmen initiation could consist of reading poetry, eating soda crackers while singing M-l-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E, dancing for seniors and wearing signs expressing their status. -A student had the same locker for four years. -The study hall was used for supervised study. -A student was not allowed on campus after 3:45 without a teacher. 1 IM at 3 A We rf?
