Without a doubt, the ski club was definitely one of the most popular clubs ever to swoosh by St. Paul High. With the help of special student skiing agencies, the members were able to ski to their hearts content at fairly rea- sonable prices, at such tantalizing slopes as Mammoth, Squaw Val- ley, Heavenly Valley, North Star, and many other places. Trips gave members a chance to get away from the hassles of everyday life, as well as taking in a few breathtaking sights, wheth- er it be a beautiful snow capped mountain against a crystal clear blue sky, or a fellow skier of the opposite gender. But either way you look at it, this club has given students opportunities to ski and to meet new people. Hopefully this year ' s success will continue for all future skiers at St. Paul. Staff Survives Another Year? Lumen was both a class and an after- school activity. The class which was held 2nd period, consisted of 9 seniors and 1 sophomore who produced the contents of the book. Of course, the afterschool gang played a big part in this production. This club provided experiences that were un- natural to human abilities, such as: work- ing in the wee hours to meet a deadline, racking brains for unique ideas, organizing photo sessions where no one showed up for the pictures, struggling with malfunction- ing typewriter and un cooperative fingers, having completed layouts refused, mis- placing important pictures, and basically, living through it all. Well, now you know why sanitariums are necessary! Believe it or not, we, the Lumen-atics, headed by Lucy Sacco, had a fun (?) time. Great friendships were developed between all which made accomplishing our heavy tasks easier. This year proved to be one of craziness, destruction, nausea, and studiousness, all of which the Lumen captured. This had to be one of the most exciting clubs on cam- pus — regardless of some of the insane jobs. A bit of advice to future Lumen-atics — GOOD LUCK!!! Top: Anne-Marie Maikisch, Leslie Aranda, Jennie McGuire, Cathy Mendoza, Bottom: Jeanne Castro, Cathy Lee, Chris Wrona, Mod. Ms. Sacco Cari and Linda ' s joint effort. 8t- ■ Take my body or my layouts! 30 LUMEN STAFF
