Its main purpose was to do services within the community. Their goal was to make students aware of what was going on in the world outside of their own personal lives and help solve some of the problems found. They worked with the poor and elderly, supported the East L.A. Salesian Boy ' s Club, the Hospitality Kitchen, and sponsored the 26 mile March for Hunger. Outreach, an open club, had almost 100 members. We are proud of these students and their Christian work. m 16V.C Attentive listeners?! Mr. Jiru, Leader of the Pack! ' 22 YOUTH OUTREACH

The group ' s purpose was to do Christian Service within and outside school. Together the members helped co-ordinate the campus masses held on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and various other special occa- sions. They also worked as organizers and homeroom repre- sentatives during the successful Thanksgiving food drive, where over 40 boxes of food and $600 were collected for the local organizations serving the poor. In the future, club members hope to get involved in more community service projects. Readers preparing for the mass. Thanksgiving mass in progress C.A.M. 21

t ! The Blues Sisters ' ?! Havin a good time! Tarsus Tops The Chart Tarsus, the music makers of St. Paul, cer- tainly had a busy schedule this year. Soon after the auditions held in October, these selected musicians and singers displayed their gifted talents at different kinds of events throughout the year. Performances were held at detention camps, church functions, the S.P. Christmas concert, a student council conference, and the cam- pus masses. Time out was taken in January for a relaxing retreat up in the mountains. This group, headed by a fantastic music major, Hanan Yaqub, developed a close relationship. Although hard work was the main action, this group had a fun time. Tarsus brings holiday cheer at the Christmas concert. Bol. L-R: Eric Rosas. Byron Schatz, Greg Gallegos. Gerry Home, Li? Hamilton.
