ESTONOA 1965 Presented by The Senior Class St. Paul High School St. Paul , Virginia FOREWORD Just as soon as we enter school, we discover new ideas to explore and new doors to open. With the experienced hands of our teachers guiding us, we have found a way to unlock these doors. During our school days, we are exposed to many forms of culture and learning and friendships. To preserve these moments and countless other memories of our classmates, this yearbook strives to capture a record of school activities which have opened the door to a much wider horizon which will serve to broaden us as individuals in the modern world of tomorrow, Appropriately, this year ' s Estonoa has chosen as its theme -- Widening Horizons, as seen in each season of the year. 2 PRINCIPAL’S MESS A GE WE BELIEVE We believe that the Saint Paul School was established primarily for the benefit of the boys and girls of this area, and that the people of the area, believing in our Democratic Way of Life, want us to promote an educational process which will insure the continued security of our Ameri- can way of life. We believe that we must integrate the practices of democratic principles in the school, in the home, and in the community. We believe in the individual; that our school program shall provide a wide variety of offerings to meet each student ' s differences in abilities, needs, and interests; that the guidance and counseling -occupational, vocational, and personal -- shall play an integral and important part in the develop- ment of a sound mind and a sound body. We believe that all students should be taught to think logically, to write legibly, to speak accurately; that they should be taught to comprehend the written page, to express themselves with clarity, and to be good listeners, and conversationalists. We believe that in order for all students to be mentally fit they must be physically fit, and that our activities program, and our health and physical education classes should contribute to the development of a sound mind and a sound body. We believe that the students should be taught to realize the moral and spiritual values of their actions and to appreciate the aesthetic qualities of their daily living. Mr. W. H.
