I 45 8 I SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY It has been ten years since my class, the Senior Class of '49, departed from our Alma Mater. I, Leon Talbert, wonder what my classmates might be doing now. I know they nust be scattered to the four corners of the earth, and engaged in various occupations and activities. Since it is the spring of the year, I have an urge to leave my work as Chief Engineer of WKVW, and take a flying trip to see each one of them. Flying, did I say? Then why not rent a flying carpet from Marahuhua, the Hindu, and drop in on some of my dear friends? Won't you, in fancy, take this trip with me? As I come into New York:Harbor, I gaze toward the Statue ofLiberty and, much to my surprise, see Randolph CDossl Counts, who is chief :ngineer, replacing the torch on this great statue. On my portable television set, I am astounded by the image of Angelene Hall, the greatest name in television since Milton Berle. When I drop down for a cup of coffee and the latest edition of Esquire, I notice a copy of Madmoiselle and see Joan Addington'sfair sage radiating from the cover Steering my carpet southward toward our nat1on's Capitol, my attention is attracted by the sounds ofahanm er Banking mycarpet to the right, I see the famous sculptor, Pat Stanton, chiseling the stroll inside for a short chat with the Vice the desk of his personal secretary and am brought none other than Ann Lee Webber White House As I President, I pass up short by seeing My travels lead me to my old stamping ground, Saint Paul, Virginia Taking up temporary residence at the Blue Sulphur Hotel, I am greeted cordially by the hotel's dietitian, Miss Cleo Brooks 9 ccidentally drift into the dining room in the midst of a banquet in honor of Sa uel Fields, football coach at C R I Taking an afternoon hike up Honey Branch, I am confronted by District Revenue Agent, Jerry Kilgore, packing a gun on each hip Continuing my hike I proceed to the ghost town of Dante, Virginia ere I find Jewel Burke, living quietly as Mrs Paul Castle, also oyce Jessee living, but not quietly, as Mrs Bob Bartee I take the donkey express to Bull Run and Dry Fork and, while passing through, I stop to chat for a few minutes at Lawson's Store Two housewives, Mesdames Joanna Gordon Trent and Martha Gilliamlban, y .4 X fy BBQ! mail X IX ,ea ' ' ' 'Q qf' . ris k A u Q o I ki . . .
