KICTORY For tiie first tiiiic in ty;elve Ion ; yeare the school bell’ will cease to rin ; for this the uatin 3 class of 1944. The knov led e that we have reached that attainment makes us proud, but we re- gret that the time has come to relinquish over friendships and associations here. 3ut of the original primary class of forty- three 3 irls in 1932, only Helen Barker remains. Of the forty-six bo -s, only Floyd Holbrook is now present. Robert Jessee, also of this beginnin ' T class, was with us until the ' end of September when he entered the U. S. N. The remainin; fourteen members have been an- nexed at different intervals as follows: Marie Suit joined us in the fourth grade, from Sulphur Springs, Virginia. Belva Kilgore en- tered our class in grade five. Mildred Brooks, Hershell Lawson and Fred Lawson joined us in the eighth grade from Dry Fork. Estelle Bays, Lloyd Evans and Virginia Sutherland came into our class from Dv;ina , and also Nell Holbrook v;as added last year through her summer school courses. Arthur Hileman, nov our class president, joined us in the eighth grade from Virginia City. Faye Hecht re- entered the high school here three years ago in the ninth grade and became a member of the class bv taking additional courses. We v ere happ to welcome Audrey Howell from Coeburn, last year. Finally, Joe Allen and Anna Lee Greer were united with us from Danto, making a total of sixteen mem- bers. Although our class has been assembled as a whole for a very short period, v;e have established warm friendships and close ties. We regret the loss of any others who might have been v;ith us, for there is pov er in large nu mbers. Realizing that we are not the best nor the largest class of this our alma mater, yet we have played some part in the drama of St. Paul Hi, and we have capital- ized on its resources, including our principal, our teachers and working materials. Wo hope that our leaving v ill make a vacancy not too great to be filled by those who follow us, and that this year ’bo:)k will leave a good impression of our class for years to come
