SAINT PATRICKS CHURCH P.o. Box 167 LARGO. FLORIDA 33540 June, 1970 My dear Students: It is a great honor and pleasure for me as Pastor of St. Patricks Parish to write these few words for your first yearbook. As you know, the real purpose of education is to achieve maturity. The real purpose of St. Patrickis School is to give you the best type of foundation to help to achieve this maturity and to help you to better serve God, Church and State. A great emphasis is being placed on education these days. In fact, without a good education, it is very difficult to progress along the road of life. Therefore, you have been given the opportunity to make a good start on the road to becoming mature. Some of you have just begun your formal education by entering the first grade last September. Others of you will be just completing your eighth grade, and thus bringing to a close your elementary education. You will soon be graduating from the eighth grade and will take another big and important step by entering high school. Your thoughts now should start to be directed even higher, namely towards college. The better and higher the education, the better and greater are the chances of a good position in life. Remember always that Almighty God gave us all a certain number of talents to be used. He gave some more than others, but He expects us to use these talents to the best of our Ability. We all walk the road of life. This road is not completely straight. There are curves, hills, valleys and many bumps that are placed in our path. For many of us these are obstacles that must be overcome. These are obstacles that you will overcome if you use your God-given talents properly. I wish at this time to congratulate those who are graduating this year from St. Patrickis School and wish them great success in the years to come. Also, I would like to assure them that we here at St. Patrickis will keep them in our prayers, and if we can be of any further help to them that they should not hesitate to ask. h I would like at this time also to thank the Faculty of St. Patrickls School, both Sisters and lay-teachers, headed by our very competent principal, Sister Mary Lucia. They have done wonderful work, not only this year but in past years as well. They are truly dedicated teachers. Also, a word of sincere thanks to the Mothers Club of St. Patrickls. They also this year, and in past years, have done excellent work in helping our school to be what it is today. They too, along with the Faculty, may be assured of a special place in our prayers. Soon the summer vacation will begin. May all of our Faculty and students have a very happy and safe summer. We here at St. Patrickis are looking forward to seeing all of you in September.
