Basketball XY'hen C.oach Monahan issued the first call for prospective members of this years quintet he was greeted with only two returning lettermen. Bob Doyle and George Paulissen. Coming up from the light weight squad were Skip Mohler, lack Kravat, George Offenbecker, jack Richert, Dick Denoyer and 'lack Lyons. XX'ith the addition of two transfers, Ron Ronek and Don Johnston, the squad was completed, The team drawn from this group were tall. fast and aggressive, and played a fine brand of basketball. Midway in the season the Irish were dealt a great blow when Ron Ronek and Dick Denoyer were ineligible because of scholastic difficulties. The Irish placed fourth in the K.V.C. with a 6-bi record. And in the regional tournament they were defeated by a strong Bradley five. It was the typical Irish fight which enabled them to have the splendid team work that Irish teams are noted for. The graduating Seniors are: George Paulissen, Bob Doyle, Skip Mohler, Don Johnston, jack Richert, and George Offenbecker. ir George Paulissen The teams high scorer. George was a very good shot and rebounder. Bob Doyle-Bob had his ups and downs. but he was a fine rebounder and versatile in his play. Skip Mohler Strictly the aggressive ball player, Skip was a dead shot from the free throw line. Ron Ronek' Ron was a ball-hawk and a good one. He could shoot from anywhere with either hand. Dick Denoyer A good dribbler and play maker. Don Johnston' -A fine team man and a very good feeder. jack I.yonsffHis floor play was outstanding, a good dribbler and shot. ,lim Marcotte jim had fine spirit and worked hard. He will be a credit to next years team. jack Richert---Clonsistant rebounder and depend- able in time of emergency. George Offenbecker ff George was a fine re- bounder and a clever floor man.
