Aeronautics .... St. Patrick's High School was one of the first schools in the country to introduce a course in the science of pre-flight areonautics. This course has been a regular part of the school curriculum since 1942. In addition to giving a good background for those who will enter the air corps. aeronautics also gives a fine basic knowledge for post-war jobs in aviation and its many branches. i 3, Q41 V f C? '- AM 1' 1f . 4 LEARNING A NEW ,A 4 ,, Window: Father Haungs and Father Schuetz do an all-around job over there teaching those boys shop work and drawing. Clock: They acquaint the lads with the elements of several trades. Maehint- woodwork, electricity, and bench metalwork are taught. If the students want to go further in that line, they can take the advanced courses in machine and architec- tural drawing. Window: After the war. the shop hopes to get a surfacer for the wood working department, but right now it will have to get along with the instruments on the band saw, jointer, lathe, and circular saw. Clock: If any advanced class in of the boys show a marked talent for shop work a still further general mechanics called maintenance is offered. Window: The the Kankakee Vocational School here in town.
