Dreams of success. Ambitious dreams. These are the thoughts the student has as he seeks to learn, to increase his knowledge. Dreams express the ambitions and the ideals of the student. Dreams grow holy put in action since only through previous knowledge can the will set itself for action, for work, or for study. Only because of his ambitious ideals does the student desire to learn. Only . . through starry dreaming can the student's work grow fair and attain the highest standard of quality. In the daily life of the student, in his school work and classroom attitude, can be seen the influence of the ideals and dreams of the individual. Through the effort to see his dreams and ideals climax in a material and spiritual success, does the student put forth his finest labors, 4 l W U qi 5ffqfH:.,:I51??F fm 5 X' Lyxwikf 1. ..., - A 01.42 3 ' FAA ,va MT- ' 'f H: wff, ' 145.5-334' LQM, mm, 5 eb 5 I S E E E S was-:L ilk? e 1 1 55 E . 5 2 . g Q M x' ,N ,5'Q55i53 Qi, , w x L F X va.: T45 ,Q 9 :Q 1,001 ' 1'. 1 .fm ,4 mi ,4,','s,iigwe s5- R v l' . fi i X ini Y H . 4 ? We have experienced these characteristics in the person of Brother Paul, our'Principal. Through his capable leadership have come about numerous improvements as evidenced by the recent expansion of our school. His able advice has directed us toward courses which will be most beneficial to our future. Ever seeking for us, he has provided a wider course of study and extra-curricular activities. He has eiiiciently carried out all his endeavors in our behalf, sacrificing much of l1is time and energy. For these and innumerable other kindly deeds, of which we may not now be completely aware, the Senior Class dedicate to you, Brother Paul, the 1957 La Croix. We do this to express our gratitude, to say thanks for all the won- derful things you have done for us. To gain this success, he must be master of his dreams and not let them become his master. It is the constant effort of the Administration and Faculty to teach the student how to do this. By setting up a program of studies, both religious and secular, for the student, he may acquire the principles for daily living which will be so necessary to the student in achieving his ideals. In his contact with others in the co-curriculars provided, these principles may be put into action. Through the help and guidance of the members of the Faculty, and the cooperation of the students, it seems impossible that these dreams may not become realities. 10 BROTHER L. Classes lVith Freshmen occupying the new round- house and the upper-classmen remaining in the older glasshouse, many students have not had the opportunity to become acquainted with each other. The names of students who have realized greater goals mean nothing to others unless they can associate the achievement with the individual. ln the following pages the class pictures link the names with the faces to pro- vide a lasting recognition for those students who have achieved these higher goals. The first of the school year had these am- bitious young men mastering the rugged fundamentals of the sport, and this same winning spirit and drive brought several victories to our St. Patrick's. If this spirit and these victories are an indication of the future, St. Patrick's will boast of many new and greater accomplishments on the gridiron. , Coach . This was the year that St. Pat's was predicted to have their best squad since '49 when they were city champions. Their failure to achieve this goal did not in any way take away from the pride that the student body had for the team. The student body extends their congratulations to the Heav- ies' team of '57 for their hard work in practice and their line play in the games. 93 , if :S Nav X figfw N X R f 41 -wk Q ff ,,, . lx 4 s Y ,xi mg., 1 I , ff fx s Q' 11.5 . Their failure to go by these predictions resulted because of the great hustle and spirit shown during practice and at the games. The team had only one returning letterman from last season, but the other four players filled the vacant spots and played admirably. 93 'G I 3 1 1' l' wi ' 'W' K. 5 .- Q, ? 2 Q ., Ax Q af 5 Bottom row' i . NVith such enthu- siasm the team is bound to be a winning one. This year's team has the unbeatable Tom Grossman together with the League's fastest 880 relay team made up of Tom Grossman and Tom O'Brochta QSeniorsj, with Jim Bush and Tom Spaletto fjuniorsj. Other men who contribute to the team's successes are Tom Dugan in the high jump, Bob Koca our 880 distance runner, and Bob Shanewise one of our best sprinters. Brother Andrew who has coached this year's team feels that this is one of the best teams in the League and that, without any injuries or accidents, it can work itself into top spot in the city. 101 X N N iron o'BRoc:HT.,t ' ' ' Captain l ,..--- - 1 N X :XX .4 X Km ' . ,N Aix Q Yell' E. They are the first students to have coni- pleted four years in the new school. As fresh- men they underwent the hardships of unusual school hours, a half-completed building, the noises of construction and a minimum of co- curriculars. In graduating, these students achieve their present primaryu goal and in doing so are well equipped in theiriisearch for greater accom- plishments. BERNDT Salufaforian One of the leaders in his class, P.J. came to St. Patrick's from Locke School. During his years here he has been begun preparing himself for the career which he has chosen, journalism. For two years he has been Editor in Chief of the Green and Gold and this year he has been a member of the La Croix staff. Because he fulfilled the requirements neces- sary for election to the National Honor Society in his junior year, he was chosen for membership with only two other members of his class. This year he was elected president. P.j. likes Italian food and good music but cannot take Elvis in any size dose. His favorite saying, Nice try, Dick Tracy, easily voices the feeling of his fellow classmates, Nice try, Pat. fvalechciorian Commonly known as 'WVi1ly Crisp to his friends, Phil entered St. Patrick's from Cardinal Stritch High School. By taking part in such school activities as bowling, the Pep Band, and the Science Club in his junior year Phil became a well known figure around school. In his senior year he added the Green and Gold, Y.C.S., and the Benildus Club of which he is the Treasurer, to these activities. This year Phil has received two honors of which he can be proud. The Faculty elected him to the National Honor Society and his fellow classmates elected him the Most Outstanding Se- nior of St. Patrick's. Phil likes dancing and good music but finds those Monday mornings a little hard to take. NVe hope, with him, that he may fulfill his ambition which is the accomplishment of God's will. 1 PATRICK VITACCO enior Class ,fllfcers THOMAS F.
