What a lifel We didn't know whether to be happy or frightened, and of all days to begin-September Tl-llRTEENTl-ll Not that we were superstitious, but Freshmen need a little moral support and we certainly weren't getting any. The sick-looking smiles on our faces were poor covers for the sink- ing feeling we experienced. The Seniors stared as though we were on exhibition las if we weren'tl and the upperclassmen laughed. making us wish we were still in Grammar School. Oh! relief at last, at least for the time being, for we were ushered in the audi- torium by Sister Maria Walter and then placed in the friendly and capable hands of Sister Margaret Perpetua, our homeroom teacher. We became accustomed to the ten-thirty recess period and acquainted our- selves with Horatius at the Bridge, and la-Zl la-3l ib 1 cl. Patricians at last! 9B We, the class of '47, have three precious years remaining at St. Patrick, and the memories of our first year are indelibly written in our hearts. lt was filled with religious, academic, social and athletic ac- complishments. We elected Mary Hurley, Edward Brindley, Mary McElroy, and jerry Brindley class officers. We struggled with Algebra, French and History. We cheered faithfully for our team throughout its high- ly successful season, The class parties were fun, but our own Valentine party gave us the biggest thrill. The retreat which we made under Father Carey's guidance gave us spiritual refreshment. To the class of '44 we extend our thanks for helping to instill in us the traditional spirit of our school. ,.LL.v32...' X fyfuuafiw 'N' lf? 7 fffffkf .1 22 0
