'T Um ' In the year 1946, under the guiding hand of Sister Miriam Kathleen, this portion of the class of '57 started their haphazard career at St. Pat's. After the immortal year was brought to a close, there were three months of neighborhood terror. During this period, the grand finale of this first year of education was completed. As September rolled around, there was another hill to conquer. The gallant class of '57, under the leadership of General Lucille Theresa, charged full speed for the top. Along the way the addition of Frank Locati, Janet House, Tony Pugliese, and Walt Fortier made the charging forces stronger. After three months' furlough, the troops were again reorganized under the leadership of Miss Andres. As the fight again got under way, it was a give and take situation, but with the addition of Jerry Stalder we forged ahead. After giving St. Pat's three months to rebuild the school and bribe new teachers to try handling us, we again brought the call of battle to the doors of St. Pat's. We re- assembled, with Bob Sorey and Roger McDowell making this our most successful year. Again we had to give St. Pat's three more months to recuperate, but we made up for lost time when we took our positions in the old fort. Along the way we trained Terry Johnson to our tactics. We were all natural-born fighters, under Sister Judith Marie. We were the same hard-fighting gang, under Sister Armella. We knew in a few more years we would have control of the whole school. The seventh grade troop, under the guiding hand of Sister Celine Marie, was taught how to run their own classes. Most of us, including the new soldier, Patsy Connelly, liked this new kind of freedom. You see, after three months of swimming and playing tennis, we didn't feel like being tied down. Sister Xavier taught her platoon many things, especially how to behave like ladies and gentlemen. Under her firm hand, our platoon, with Rita Doetsch, was mustered out with full honors, and we would soon enter those adioining rooms that would eventually give us our high school diplomas. The summer disappeared with a suddenness and we were creeping towards our new barracks with a slight twinge of weakness. The halls were new, the teachers more and different, but our incentive was still high. With Sister Valerie wearing the captain's stripes and with the addition of Karen Knowles, Marlene Riomondo, and Joe Adams we marched through our first year of high school. Nine months . . . they came and went fast. The three months' vacation would be iust a gentle lull before the storm. The floors were slick and shiny, the .blackboards spotless, and a certain sophomore class was raring to go. With Sister Eugenia heading the march, and Don Aylward, Patti Doocy, and Linda Winn, we stormed through our sophomore year at a pace unequaled by other classes. The shrill blast of a bugle and the thin strains of taps drifted out from the walls of good ol' St. Patrick's. The iunior year was upon us. Helen Van Doren hit camp and with Sister Valerie being drafted for a second try as our combat leader, we found ourselves iust around the corner from the Sheepskins. For the fourth and final time we arrived at the little solid red building. Little did we know of the success that awaited us. From the best football team in the state to being scholastically high, we finished with generals' buttons, given to us by Five Star Gen., Sister Louis.
