CLASS HI TORY Remember . . . Remember . . . How could we forget? FRESHMAN YEAR September 13, 1953 . . . 76 scary freshmen report. . . . everything, everyone so-o-o-o new . . . new green chapeaux . . . lovely, new brown oxfords Cremember those early morning strainings and struggles getting oxfords on and the VOICE from above Girls, up out of that locker room J . . . Frosh so-o-o-o new, but not so-o-o-o green . . . at least not Joan Kelly and her assistants who barricaded four unsuspecting seniors behind that green door! . . . Remember the strange language-Latin-and how much stranger we made it sound to Sisters Miriam Camillus and Kath- leen Rosaire . . . quarterileis that took the wind out of our sails-or gave us those coveted honor cards . . . Sodality . . . Sister Anne Marie's Science Club . . . and Camera Club . . . the Forensic League . . . all 76 of us out for everything . . . Remember Professor Moote's fortitude in art class and our confusion at his announcemene: Young ladies, you now have 21 plates for the Albany file . . . file? . . . Did he mean nail file? . . . plates . . . Success! It never happened before . . . FIVE freshmen on the Varsity . . . Re- member Caesat and her haircut and her fabulous long shot . . . the pride of being Irish just for March 17 . . . the boat ride to Rye and Sister Camillus' expression as she roller coasted into space . . . june . . . final exams . . . WOW . . . we passed. Remember . . . Remember . . . How could we forget? SOPHOMORE YEAR Serious freshmen . . . suddenly noisy, giggly Sophs . . . always in trouble . . . Remember Room 3's envy of Room 2's strategic position-door facing the boys' staircase . . . the inner locker room, still our second home . . . but dreams come true . . . our very own lockers because . . . well, because we had so many new subjects . . . something called GEOMETRY chock full of theorems . . . the real Caesar campaign- ing, not in Gaul, but on paper . . . that ever-ready map of Asia Minor staring at us every fourth period . . . Remember French and the new system introduced to Tolentians . . . The, dot and dash system . . . some girls, as well as teachers, had eyes in the back of their heads, else why did Frances Ryan wear her glasses there . . . Remember our pride over Tolen- tine's own Latin trophy . . . and the general, hectic grabbing for each other's notes and homework coz Regents-all three of them-were on their way . . . But we survived . . . and we were . . . Juniors! Remember . . . Remember . . . How could we forget? JUNIOR YEAR Now we were two-year veteran Tolentians facing the fabulous year . . . dues . . . fines . . . cake sales . . . and Sister K. R.'s solo . . . all part of a challenging experience . . . more subjects . . . Intermediate- morning-noon-night-a triple cheer for Sister Ca- millus, Sunday classes and all . . . Cicero's orations . . . Who snitched on Cataline? . . . Can't you see Anne Riordan's hat-and-glove protest against our OFFICIAL FRESH AIR FIEND? . . . Basketball colored the year . . . the team up to peak performance . . . Miss Wigiser . . . Miss Moloney . . . coaches to be proud of and to do for . . . heartbreak hour, the Aquinas game - a two-point loss and Sister Aileen's understanding tribute: The girls did their best, and in our hearts they'll always be the winners . . . Down again . . . up again . . . Satisfaction in the Invitational Tournament when the Varsity earned a trophy against top competition . . . Evie Phelan's perfect score of 25 out of 25 in Foul Shooting Con- test . . . We gotta Bronx Champion . . . the year's running out . . . We've almost forgotten Father Dan Egan's electrifying Retreat . . . it made us think . . . then the never-to-be-forgotten fun and work of get- ting ready for-yes, getting ready for the junior Reception . . . singing our way around the world, a fabulous tour with four expert guides . . . The Best Year of Our Lives say we all as we go off to the annual outing . . . this time, it's to the country . . . then Regents . . . and june . . . and this is it. Remember . . . Remember . . . How could we forget? SENIOR YEAR Four wonderful years have sped by - years brim- ming with nonsense . . . friendship . . . inspiration . . . some study . . . To our Pastor, Father Stengel . . . to our very own Principal, Sister Aileen . . . and to our Faculty, we offer appreciation for all you've given us . . . We'll try to be all you've dreamed of and prayed for . . . God bless you for making our memories of Tolentine such happy ones . . . It's grad- uation time . . . We're paraphrasing a great Ameri- can's tribute: Tolentine's a small school, but there are those who love her. So say The SENIORS of 1957
