Y. as .M E E S .iw , ibechcafion We, the Class of 1951, being of grateful minds, hereby dedicate this, our yearbook, to: Our Parents . . . They have worked and prayed, suffered and slaved for us. They have given us money, time, youth, and strength. They have sought to understand their sometimes bewildering daughters. To them we are eternally- grateful. Our Pastor, Father Mauch . . . He has truly followed in the footsteps of Christ. He has deserved and received the loyalty of his people for whom he has labored. He has been an example and an inspiration to us. Our Principal, Sister Aileen . . . She has been our friend as teacher and as principal. She has listened to our suggestions and plans with interest and has given invaluable aid to carry them out. She has never received us in coldness, but always in friendliness. The Faculty . . . They have worked for us with little, if any, thanks. They have given up time to give us extra help and to organize clubs for us. They have watched over, scolded, and guided us. They have always been our friends. The Underclassmen . . . They have aided and abetted us in every undertaking. They have been wonderful sports and put up with the often conceited seniors. They have played with us, worked for us, and laughed at us. They have made our last year in Tolentine even more enjoyable. We can never repay them. We can only try, in our small way, to express our gratitude. We, therefore, dedicate this book to them and say to them, THANK YOU! 5 -gd! Her uniform was brand new and Nd very shiny. Her feet were adorned with white socks and moccasins. Her hair was straight because she was CD not very skilled with the curlers. She was willing and eager and very wide-eyed. , 4 She attended all the games and joined clubs whose l meetings coincided. She studied and played with , painful earnestness. She gazed with awe at the upper classmen and could not wait to be a senior. She was very self- conscious and giggled when she saw a fellow any closer than twenty feet. ,Sophomore V748 49 Turf' W5 3 l - A ku ll. . l l In 1948 Tolly was an old hand at Tolentine. She acted big to the freshmen and could not believe that she had ever been like THAT. Tolly was definitely getting better looking. The old uniform did not fit as well. It was too short and way too wide. Her freckles were getting lighter and her hair, with the nightly aid of bobby pins, looked really smooth. Tolly's uniform pockets were usually stuffed but her capezios were oh! so sharp. Tolly was much more sophisticated. Rudolph's and Elsie's were seeing her more and more often. Boys no longer rattled her at twenty feet. They had to get within ten to upset this young lady. I' Mak JUNIOR xg. 1947-50 tafogy man, no less! Tolly was really on her way in '49. An upperclass- She had just had to get a new uniform and she l fl ,-4 Miss Tolly Senior was the big boss in the school. She was proud of the sparkling ring on her finger. She was looked up to by the freshmen. She had that grown up look and lived up to it. Tolly was going out into 'the adult world in a short :ime and consciously or not, she. was preparing her- self by working part time and taking on responsi- bility. She went steady with a dreamy fellow and dreamed of a dreamy Prom. She wondered what color gown to get, pink, white, maize? No matter which, it was Jeautiful and so was Tolly on that big night. Tolly worried about what she would do after grad- uation. She wrote away for catalogs, visited schools Jf all kinds, filled out applications, made big de- :isions. We wish her success in whatever she does. managed to dress it up quite a bit. She added a dif- ferent belt, turned up the collar of her blouse and pinned it with a cute scatter pin. Of course, the ox- fords did not add to her glamour but Tolly added plaid shoe-laces and changed the dumb shoes as soon as she reached the locker room. School work had her a little worried. Those four regents loomed on the horizon, but Tolly jumped into the fray and managed to defeat the four horse- men. Tolly's freckles were disappearing and her figure was improving. She was a real sophisticate! Boys, oh, excuse me, men did not bother her a bit. FATHER JAMES MCNALLY In one short year, Father McNally has en- deared himself to the hearts of all Tolentians. He has worked tirelessly to make the Sodality an active organization and by his friendly and persevering spirit, has succeeded. The Seniors are especially grateful to Father McNally. Through his marriage course, he has set their feet on the road to becoming better women, 73 .1 .!46Jl,ll'l'll9fa Three days she lay in the earth's dark tomb, With the clay like a wall around her, Who had borne God in her spotless womb, Then His Eye pierced the dark and found her. Seventy years of an Angel's span, With the King of Kings beside her. She lived in the light of a God made plan, But the shade of the Cross dehed her. She knew the ache of a mother's heart, Whose Son's blood had crimsoned His Face. She watched as humanity died in Him And the God nature rose in its place. gif maria Oh, white were the wings of the cherubs, Who carried their Queen to her throne, And the silver clouds parted to greet her, For the sunbeams had found a new sun. Then were the arms that had held Him In birth, during life, and in death, Stretched longingly outward to clasp Him And give voice to the sighs on her breath. So ring bells of heaven and earth, We struggle for peace not alone. Mary, Our Help, is with jesus, And Mercy sits on her throne. joan Bagnel, '51 74 -fwfr Ezfimhnn nf :lm Emma uf Um Hxrnwphm ' Giza rzluwz .Wreath ihndt finer :wfnm.n :perk fail? 8EL!'fU-1':LIA.X1-1'Q in rain fisfxgzx uf' GKUW? x' yi:f:nnz,1QuxuQx1, 'kkiti' mg IX?
