xtt VEN hetore graduation, which inevitahty hrings with it a parting from an we have cherished throughout tour years of high schoot hte, we have said our farewett to Father Aliexis who left St. tVIichaet's on iViay first to join the mitiions of Americans who are now serving in the various hranches ot the Armect Forces. Father Alexis came to St. Wiichaets High Schoot in Novemher, 1940, succeeding Father Bertranct, as Superintenctent. During these three years spent with us, he has heen unweariect in his efforts to incutcate and to encourage, hy his own example and inspiration, the functamentai principles of our Catholic Faith. Unsparing of himself in acts of sacrifice anct-zeat for the students, he came to he regarded not only as Superintendent hut as actviser and friend. The memhers of the Class of 145 have iqnown Father Alexis most intim- ateiy f or the past three years. To see him leave hefore Commencement, there- fore, has meant much to us, even though we thriitect with pricte when we heard he was to serve as Chaplain in the United States Navy. XV e have encteavorect in this tinat word to convey what we so cteepiy feet hut fqinct so ctifhcuit to express. But we are conlfictent he Witt uncterstanct, just as he has always uncter- stood our efforts and our failures.
