Specifically, my most heartfelt advice is: Be Honest. Honesty would not be the sorely neglected virtue it is today if offenders would think often of the Church's doctrine of Restitution. A boy who can graduate from Saint Michae1's with the knowledge in his own heart that he has never wronged his neighbor by dishonesty, or has made restitution when guilty, is indeed beginning to build the heavenly mansion that will some day be his life. By it the sodalists are dedicated to Mary and have Mary as their goal. The sodality's aim is that of fostering in the members an ardent devotion, reverence, and filial love of the Blessed Mother. The sodality is com- posed of units several in number, having their own individual projects for the year. These units unite at the end of each month at the general meeting, there they give their reports. The Confraternity of the Christian Doctrine is one of the outstanding units in the Sodality These are the things that all together help to foster piety in the Sodalists and lead them to practice works of charity and reverence towards their neighbor, STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Council is a new organization in Loretto. In spite of its youth, however, the council has accomplished a great deal, Its first duty was to erase a debt carried from last year and to raise funds for this year's projects. They did so and managed to leave enough in the treasury so that next year's members can take office without any worries along that line. At Christmas the members gathered food baskets and delivered them to the needy families in the city, in the name of the Loretto Student Body, Loretto was represented at the State Student Council Convention by:Marie Montoya, Ernestine Contreras, Dolores Aragon, Stella Martinez, Ti Castle, and Dolores Rael. They gave a report of it at the next meeting and it helped to give a better outlook on the function of a council. All of the members feel that they have done their best toward helping Loretto to be a better school, and they hope that the girls who will belong to the council in the future will follow their example and become leaders for Loretto. wr yr: V f,-rife: Q1 H ,fi 1 1 f f l 1 L 1 l Q ,EI ,, 3 x W H ., 1 K' M j 2- as Neff Q f 3 5 4, ,s 4 l f M d kg N L 2 s V f r Jr... Their ability to lead and influence were also deciding factors in their acceptance. The most successful activity of the year for the Student Council was the Valentine Dance held in Other activities included a School Clean up Campaign and the publishing of a Student Council Bulletin. Funds were raised by selling ballots for the election of our Basketball Sweetheart and also by selling programs at athletic con- tests.
