JUNIOR VOLLEYBALL The Junior Volleyball team had problems this year, finishing fourth in their division with 9 wins and 11 losses. This very talented team failed to play as a coherent unit on many occasions. The team did well, however, considering the strong opponents in their division. Tony Seljak, co-captain of the Juniors, was chosen as the MVP. On the court, Tony directed the play as well as the players. BANTAM VOLLEYBALL The Bantam Volleyball team placed first in their division with a 23 and 1 record. They went into the playoffs as the seed and came up the TDCAA Champions by defeating a strong Don Bosco team. The Bantams also won the Senator O ' Connor Midget Tournament. They are a strong team with the best hitting in Bantam TDCAA history. The team will provide an inspiring future for volleyball at St. Mike ' s in the next few years. Mike Bosati was this year ' s MVP. Mike is a disciplined and competitive young man and proved to be a team leader in many tough situations.

VOLLEYBALL SENIOR VOLLEYBALL TEAM: (L TO R): D. Cavalier, S. Ciz, A. Delia Mora, M. Pulella, J. Biondic, A. Saplys, G. Papadakos, Mr. V. Pagano (Coach), S. Dodds, A. Chuma, R. Mills, P. Chumski. The Seniors had to recuperate this year from the loss of five of last year ' s starters. This task was made more dif- ficult by the high level of competition in their division. The team finished fourth with a 15 and 8 record in regular season play. Joe Biondic is slowly emerging as the team ' s best hitter, and should contribute a great deal to the of- fence next year. The MVP was Steve Ciz. Steve was the most experienced and consistent player on this year ' s team. 90

The Senior soccer team went into the playoffs with a season record of 6 wins and 1 loss. In the playoffs, the Senior team beat the powerful Henry Carr team at Exhibition Stadium to become the 1982 TDCAA Champions. The last time St. Mike ' s won a soccer championship was in 1968. Conrad Mandala was the MVP. His good soccer knowledge and excellent techniques made him a good team player, while his quickness and aggressiveness made him the leading scorer. This year ' s Junior soccer team experienced moderate success. They finished with a record of 6 wins, 3 losses, and 2 ties. The Juniors advanced to the semi-finals of the TDCAA, but were defeated by a strong De La Salle team. The Bantams were one of the best Bantam soccer teams St. Mike ' s has ever had. They finished second in their division with 6 wins and 2 losses, and made it to the semi-finals of the TDCAA. Much of the credit goes to the trainer, Tom Petric, for his enthusiasm, hard work, and perseverance. Tony Dirienzo was the MVP and top scorer. Through speed and cunning, he was able to overcome any defenders.
