Pastor of St. Mel Parish Because of his avid interest in the education of Catholic youth and especially because of his interest in the men of St. Mel, Monsignor Purcell has won a place in the hearts of everyone connected with the school. Over the years it has been his interest and desire to help that have meant so much to our school. He has watched St. Mel grow from a small West Side high school to one ot the largest and best known institutions in the country. And throughout his tenure as pastor ot this great parish he has aided the Christian Brothers in making St. Mel High School an integral part of his charge. BROTHER I. DAMIAN, F.S.C. Director of St. Mel High School Brother Damian is the type of director and the type of man of whom all Knights may be proud. He has combined knowledge and common sense with an altable personality that has made him a friend ot the faculty and students. Under the guidance ot Brother Damian, St. Mel has taken its place among the outstanding high schools in the country. Because he has made it possible for everyone connected with St. Mel to be justly proud ot his school, for this reason more than any other, we shall always be grateful to the man who guides her destiny.
