Besides the National Basketball Championship, the hard- wood game gives us two seconds in the National Competition, three Heavyweight and three Light- weight City Championships, besides many sectional titles. Three football sectional titles, two city swim- ming titles, two city tennis crowns, and several box- ing awards are commemorated in gold or silver. Hopes are that in the next few years a number of additions will be ioined to the already impressive set of trophies. The attainment of these trophies, as also the winning of new ones, is the result of phy- sical prowess, careful coaching, and long hours of practice. Samples of this training are Dennis Horan, football captain and bas- ketball co-captain, and James Rudd, captain of the senior track team as well as Observer New Editor. Both these boys, as countless other athletes, are among the scholastic lead- ers of the school.
