FTA OFFICERS The Future Teachers of America is an organiza- tion made up of high school students who have shown an interest in teaching and who wish to consider it as a career. During the meeting, programs are centered around the purposes and policies for the FTA. Under the leadership of Ann Frazier, President; Elizabeth Gressette, Vice-President; Libby Ann Prick- ett, Treasurer; and Ginger Wienges, Secretary; the FTA has been very active. The members have sponsored a cake sale, attended a college football game, and written a constitution for the local organization. The FTA members have been helping in the gram- mar schools by teaching the smaller children. The Sandy Run Creek Bankers are a group of St. Matthews High students who live in the Sandy Run Community of Calhoun County. These students take an active part in the extra- curricular activities at S. M. H. S. Four of the boys played football this year. One of them, George Taylor, was co-captain of the team. Tommy Knight and George Taylor drive school buses. This year there are eight Seniors from Sandy Run. With the exception of Linda Kelly, who moved here this year from Ohio, these Seniors have attended St. Matthews all five years of high school.
