Agricultural Opportunities prepare shrubbery cuttings for bed. The F. F. A. is a national organization striving to promote agriculture and agricultural related occupations. The Chapter has 38 mem- bers, which is an increase over last year's 28. For the past several years the St. Matthews Chapter has had many projects. These have in- cluded a plant hotbed, rooting bed, and a plant nursery. The Chapter also operates a conces- sion stand at home football games. This en- ables the boys participating to gain practical experience and to raise funds for the Chapter at the same time. From these funds, in the past year, the Chapter has bought a pickup which it has re- painted and for which a covered body has been constructed. The boys also participated in area dairy-and livestock-judging contests. Both teams won in the Calhoun-Richland Federation and repre- sented the federation in the state judging con- test. In addition to these, some of the boys are raising pigs and calves for the Fatstock Show and Sale. Several boys hope to attend F. F. A. camp this summer and later on to attend the State F. F. A. Convention to be held in the fall. Boys get cuttings from shrubbery. Sammie Reid is shown admiring his FFA project, white Pekin ducks.
