VI The Class of 1959, no exception to the general rule, eagerly awaited the arrival of their class rings. When the longed for day finally came, the officers were sent to the rectory to show their rings to Monsignor Walsh and receive his blessing as representatives of the class. Then the whole class assembled in the Church for the traditional ring- blessing ceremony with Father Gilmour officiating. Excitement ran high for several days as the Seniors ran about displaying and admiring their proudest possessions. dv' Ill R'

Every project which could add glory to S.M.l. was enteredinto with enthusiasm by the class of '59. The ANIERICAN LEGION CONTEST offered Janet Gargiulo, Mary Tighe, and David Urbel the oppor- tunity to exercise their oratorical talents and bring honor to themselves. Janet, having been chosen to represent St. Mary's, went on to win first prize in the County eliminations. James Conover and Joseph Connolly,two of our able Juniors, supple- mented the Senior's efforts by turning in excellent performances on the VOICE OF DEMOCRACY. MY TRUE SECURITY, a new contest sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, brought to light the oratorical talents of Gary Gillan, Qfirst placej, Jerome Rzasa, and David Adler.
