Chicago: Our Kind Of Town! Ms. Warger and Ms. Hoffer were sponsors of the Chicago trip for nine students on March 30 to April i . The busy weekend included; a plane flight from Kansas City to Chicago, a stay at the Essex Inn, which was walking distance from Lake Michi- gan, the John Hancock Center, and Sax Fifth Avenue, and a ride on the L . The group toured Chicago, ending with a ride on the worlds fas- test elevator to the top of the world's highest building, Sears. They vsited the museums of Natural History and Science and Industry. The teachers could not be forgotten on April Fools' Day; They found their beds short sheeted and got a 5:30 wake-up call. Fun for all! The Chicagans, Left to Right, are Lisa Ripple, Melana Nelson, Matt Hankel, Ju- lie Baker, Gary Stoecklein, Marian Baker, Jeff Schmidt, Ellene Stoecklein, and Steve Stoecklein. National Honor Society Sets New Trends The National Honor Society is not just an organization for people who score high scholastically. The members also dem- onstrate high standards of service, leadership and character. Two added attractions this year to the NHS's list of accom- plishments were the student of the quarter and teacher of the year. Each quarter one student from each class was chosen by teachers based upon their school achievements and their extra- curricular activities. The students of the quarters are in picture 3, Row 1 S. Van Ryckengham, K. Fetters, R. Schauwecker, P. Witmer. Row 2, V. Sicola, T. Jonas, L. Ripple, V. Baker. Row 3, M. Eysell, M. Baker, M. Nelson, V. Fristoe. Selected by the student body was the teacher of the year. Mr. Morgan, winner, stated as he neared the platform, I do not know what to say.'' Now, THAT'S a first.
