A In the fall of 1977 the beloved Alfonso passed on 1nto a better world He was four years old Miss Warger told students that Le was very old for a laboratory rat but he was not Just a labo ratory rat. He was a symbol, a mascot of Science Club. joe Salva performed the autopsy on Alfonso soon after his death at the animal shelter. He died of old age. Alfonso was a black and white, hooded rat. He passed aways on a weekend when no one was around to ren-ieve his tired, old bones, but he was still deeply loved.
