Killeen, at thit time pastor of St. Mary's, cognizant of the need for increased educational facilities at St. Mary's, established a four year high school program. Until his death in Novem- ber, 1957, he worked zealously to provide the students at St. Mary's with the best in spiritual, physical, and scholastic training. The present pastor, the Right Reverend Msgr. Patrick ll. O'lJwyer, has carried on this good work. During the years he has shown a paternal interest in the progress of the SILI- dents at St. Mary's. Under the direction of the Sisters of Mercy and the co- operation of priests, and devoted lay teachers, over a thousand young people have prepared spiritually and intellectually within the walls of St. Mary's to take their places in this changing world. -lune, 1931, marked the graduation of the first sixteen students from St. Mary's High School. In June, 1949, St. Mary's graduated its last elass of boys. Witlm the graduation of the class of 1959, the torch will pass to Madonna Diocesan High School for girls. St. Maryls High School, however, will live on in the hearts of her graduates and in the traditions which she will bequeath to Madonna High School.
