page two orewor M Preparing an annual should be a labor of love, a task in which the staff, assisted or obstructed by its adviser, attempts to create a book that will capture the old school spirit in a manner that is pleasing to both the eye and the heart. If from somewhere there would appear a great white father who would guarantee ample funds for such a project, the staffs work would be limited only by its imagination or the lackl of it. However, the ugly monster better known as a budget constantly hovers over us and bars our attempted flights from tradition. We have tried to do a few things that were diferent, some of our innovations are nothing more than omissions of features that merited space only because they had always been in a yearbook. We have culled from our pages lengthy summaries of various activities, most of these can be found in the pages of our school paper. Pictures! P i c t u r e s I and more pictureslv de- manded the staff members, and this yearbook bows to their demands. We hope you'll enjoy your 1950 PURPLE and GOLD and feel confident that your enjoyment will grow with the passing years. Elle Staff

,Dedication R, l It is said that no man is a hero to his valetg and it may be added that no yearbook adviser is a hero to his staff. But the nicest things about old adages are the exceptionsg the nicest of these exceptions is our senior sponsor, Miss Nell Williams. Miss Williams almost literally fought with many of her staffs to prevent their dedicating a yearbook to herg and she always won. B-ut now that the yearbook is in other hands, the members of this years senior class take this opportunity to dedicate this yearbook to her in appreciation for all she has done for us and the many senior classes before us.
