O'Mara Once again the school bell rang out, summoning us to a new, more eventful year. lt was indeed breathtaking that first week of getting in the groove again, talking with our friends, new and old alike, and buying and selling our text books. At last we were sophomores! Promises of hard work and fun were ours as we settled down and peeked to see what was next on the agenda. With the brisk autumn days came the football season, crowded with long-to-be-remembered games with us cheering lustily on the sidelines. Following on the heels of the pigskin season were the less anxiously anticipated ten weeks' tests. The zero hour came and went and we breathed more easily, but decided to study just a little bit harder in the future. To touch on the gayer side of life we might mention the social activities of the sodality in which we played an active part by staging the annual Valentines Party. Our clever fash- ion parade at this event proved to be a huge success. Among ourselves, our weekly class meetings kept us merry as we played games, sang songs and danced. As the penitential season of Lent approached, we entered into the spirit of the season and performed daily acts of mortification, such as, silence and abstaining from candy. Then it was May and we were busy rehearsing tor the May procession. But even this could not ease the tenseness of waiting for that bid to the prom from him, All too soon our sophomore year ended. We now looked forward to 'lgoing our way another two years at St. Mary's 3213

oczmd ljzniors Against the background of a brief, fleeting year, a bundle of events and a crop of suc- cesses have made an impressive history for our class. With the opening of school came the football season, which gave two members of the classfBob Adams and Ray Corser a chance to supply many a thrill to the madly rooting sideline. Then too, on the basketball court, we juniors showed our dauntless spirit by raising score after score to cinch game after game. ln keeping with our social abilities we recaptured a petite French Cafe, Cafe Tres Chic. With candlelight, soft music, and guaintly covered tables, the entire hall was filled with a gay and cheerful atmosphere. Suddenly, the spotlight encircled our talented stars with their in- terpretation of the Blue Danube and the Darktown Strutter's Ball. Soon snow-drifts and icy roads signaled our annual Pre-Lenten Hop. Striving for originality, we cleverly named our dance The Hubba-Hubba l-lop. Cn the sides of the hall were huge posters, depicting our social life, The Voice and a humanized giraffe. As time rolled on, daffodils bloomed, robins chirped, and up went the scenery and decor- ations for the Prom. i Simultaneously we had our first experience in giving a formal banquet for the senior class. Amidst speeches and nervous chattering, we closed the season's ac- tivities. All too soon came lune with its final exams and sweet partings. QCTCBER: Never a dull momentethe Sodality started the ball rolling by initiating us. Believe me, we were all happy and relieved when that night came to an end. NQVEMBER: Decked out in tall green hats and perky green bow ties our freshman boys gave their interpretation ofe9'MacNamara's Band during intermission at the senior play. DECEMBER: Next, we pooled our talents and put on the annual freshman play. From the applause we received, we knew 'lWhat ls a King? was a great success. TANUARY: Qur first mid-term exam fears as high-schoolers! What a relief when they were over! FEBRUARY: Welcomed holidays in honor of our two great presidents. We gave the Pre- Lenten l-lop our whole-hearted support. MARCH: Not to be out done by the upper classmen, we freshmen put on musicale entitled, Freshmen Follies for one of our Sodality meetings. APRIL: For the more serious side of life we gave candy sales and made generous contribu- tions for the missions. Along with this money we sent clothing to a destitute mission in Florida. MAY: Then came our first active participation in the May CrowningfWere we proud as we marched to church to honor Mary, our Queen!
