4285 CAIXITEEN . . From I-en Till Iwo Dear Navy Lads, Now that I've caught up on the sleep I lost the night of the Prom, I'll tell you all about it, as I promised. Here it was twenty to nine, Friday night, and I was rushing around trying to find things, when, all of a sudden, there was a rap on the door fthe bell doesn't ringl and who was standing there but my escort. Since my hair was on curlers and I was only half ready, Mom invited him and his mother in a while to wait for me. To top things off it rained. Somehow I finally managed to get ready and on my way. Upon entering the door we saw a V-shaped neon light, which cast a soft lavender color on everyone. At this entrance the girls sold warsages. Once ins side the hall we beheld a very attractive setting of a canteen. American flags were hung from the ceiling, and there were flags on either side of the stage. I never saw the gym look so gay and colorful. While we sat at our table waiting for the music to begin, we were trying to figure out how to work the programs. That puzzled us very much, and after a while we just gave up and danced with whom we wished. Although the dance began at 9:30 P. M. and ended at l:30 A. M., I didn't get home until 3:00 A.M. or something. I was so tired by then that I felt like letting my clothes drop where they may and getting into bed, for it had the most come- hither appeal. But you can hardly let an evening gown drop where it may, so I had to hang everything up, put my corsage in the refrigerator, and finally slip exhausted, but happily, into the softness of my bed. To a seasoned junior or senior, the Prom just meant another dance to attend, but to me, a freshman, it meant the beginning of a grownup's high school lifef the same life you enjoyed while spending your days in Saint Mary's halls. 'fff You can be certain we'll keep it the sameeafter all, isn't that what you're fight- ing for? A very thrilled freshie, Dot Young
