Betters tg 22 Dear lohnnie Doughboy, You probably don't remember me. When you were running with that be tor dear old Saint Mary's back in your schooldays, l was just a pig-tailed sixt grader on the sidelines, rooting tor you with lusty enthusiasm. And now you' one ot Uncle Sam's soldiers, and l'm still on the sideliness a high school tres man nowsbut still tervently cheering you on. You know, Johnnie, it's tough to be just on the sidelines cheering at a tin like this. We're too darn young to be in the thick ot the tight as a soldier, 1 nurse, or defense worker, about all we can do is knit, collect scrap, serve 4 junior wardens, and salvage a few dimes each week from our small allowance buy war stamps. Gosh, lohnnie, l suppose people see us giggling over l'cokes or jiving tc little solid swing, or chattering about heart throbs or coming proms- and the probably shake their heads and murmur, Those crazy kids don't even knc there's a war on! fff but l have a teeling, lohnnie, that you'd grin and say,' Let the kids have their fun- heck, those things are part ot what we're tightir tor. Yes, lohnnie, that's the way things are now, l guess our duty as school kit is to learn our l-l2O and 2 X 2's. Believe me, we will do our best to tui outsauon the top. May God help us to carry on as magnificently as you a doing. Another Freshie, Ann lnnes

4-24? KNIGI-ITI-IOCD IN FLCWER First Row: lames Ray and Robert Hassett Seated: Mary lane Anderson, Charles lnnes, Dorothy Glover, Lorraine Van Berkom, ioanne Braun and William Madden Standing: Matilda Vormwald, Robert Sheridan, Edward Hogan Dear Boys: Though far removed from the glamor and gaiety of the t'Great White Way, St. Mary's has on innumerable occasions, proved her rightful heritage to the theater. ln true Broadway fashion, our accomplished Senior Class of '43 presented its first nighter drama. True, Galahad Tones didn't have a long run, but the two performances given to an appreciative audience of adults and high school students alike, were well reviewed by local tabloids. An all star included such well-known favorites as, Charles lnnes, Anona Mayer, Mary Antil, loan Braun, William Madden, Lorraine Van Berkom, lane Anderson, 'tTillie Vormwald, Ted Hogan, lane Ray, Leo Sayre, Bob Sheridan, Dorothy Glover and Robert Hassett, The amusing plot involves the lively antics of a teen-age boy, whose devotion to the knights of old, leads him into some merry mixups. Duels, exaggerated courtesy to the fairer sex, and lengthy letters of ultimata are all in a day's work to young Tommy lones. However, the arrival of Miriam, an out of town ttnumbern, serves to change his outlook on the entire world, and dueling gives way to drooling after the attractive Miriam. The audience expected something goodf Galahad lones was more than good. It was Utopsf' Gur hats were off to them, our mighty Seniors, for a grand performance. Maybe we'll see them on Broadway. Who knows? Your theater reviewer, loan Pierce
