Betters tg 22 Dear lohnnie Doughboy, You probably don't remember me. When you were running with that be tor dear old Saint Mary's back in your schooldays, l was just a pig-tailed sixt grader on the sidelines, rooting tor you with lusty enthusiasm. And now you' one ot Uncle Sam's soldiers, and l'm still on the sideliness a high school tres man nowsbut still tervently cheering you on. You know, Johnnie, it's tough to be just on the sidelines cheering at a tin like this. We're too darn young to be in the thick ot the tight as a soldier, 1 nurse, or defense worker, about all we can do is knit, collect scrap, serve 4 junior wardens, and salvage a few dimes each week from our small allowance buy war stamps. Gosh, lohnnie, l suppose people see us giggling over l'cokes or jiving tc little solid swing, or chattering about heart throbs or coming proms- and the probably shake their heads and murmur, Those crazy kids don't even knc there's a war on! fff but l have a teeling, lohnnie, that you'd grin and say,' Let the kids have their fun- heck, those things are part ot what we're tightir tor. Yes, lohnnie, that's the way things are now, l guess our duty as school kit is to learn our l-l2O and 2 X 2's. Believe me, we will do our best to tui outsauon the top. May God help us to carry on as magnificently as you a doing. Another Freshie, Ann lnnes

NXXITTV AND WISE First Row: l. Stack, M. Hennessy, l. Pierce, A. Hassett, E. O'Connor, A. Allen, R. Coakley, K. O'Neil, l. Dwyer Second Row: E. Shirley, D. Glover, R. Rhodes, l. McNeil, l. Houlihan, A. Goodwin, P. Kiernan, P. Gerard, P. Michaud Dear Fellows, When things start buzzing around the old Alma Mater, you can bet your next turloggh that the Sophs are behind it. Yes, we're always in the thick ot things whether it be bingo or card parties, bringing home victories on the grid- iron or court, murdering the French language with our abominable pronuncia- iron or court, murdering the French language with our abominable pronuncia- tion, or conquering the Helvetians and Germans with Caesar. Cn the gridiron you can see our huskier members crashing through the opponents line with all the power ot a tank. And we could match your top sergeants any day when it comes to oratory. Two ot our experts, loe Dwyer and loan Pierce, stepped out to win the elimination oratorical contest, adding another star and making us full generals. Already we've bid au revoir to one ot our platoon, Teener Hazard who is now swabbing the decks. l-le's gone forth with strict orders from us to deliver a tew bombs to knock the little fellows' ancestors right out ot their graves. And we've helped buy these bombs by staging a box social and bingo party. But our Sophomore year has come to an end. Though we're reluctant to leave, it is tor the best, because they'd have to create a new rank for us, since leave, it is for the best, because they'd have to create a new rank tor us, since weve already acguired tour stars. We hope that those who till our places will be able to prove themselves worthy ot the inheritance We've so ably established in the Sophomore class. Keep up your courage- -we're with you, The Sophs, Ann Hassett t21t
