SENIORS FRANCIS SNYDER Fritz , Fly-trap Fanny , Willie Baxter Snyder is a refreshingly adolescent oasis in a desert ol over-drawn sophistication. Fritz glee- fully abandons senior dignity in Favor of a delightfully boyish capri- ciousness. l-le performed his duties as a class officer for two years and chairman of debates with the same zest that he played basketball and football, and with which he will play the game of life. NANCY CROSS Nancy is one of those amazing persons who are blessed with a multiplicity of talents. Besides being the intellectual of our class she is really tops at the drawing board, as is proved by her worlc as Art Editor of the Per Annos and Sodality Star. Outside of our own circle we have heard that she has a reputation for shyness, but, frankly, we doubt it. ROBERT REYNOLDS Bob is our happy-go-luclcy Ring of the dance. ln his serious moments he leans to the intellectual rather than the athletic side. ln organized debating or friendly argument his tongue is as nimble as his feet, and his eFFervescent humor brightens the most serious discussion. When Bob isn't being the white hope of the lVlohican Company, he is usually wrapped in dreams about something--or someone. 1111

SENIORS QLIVER RILEY HQllieU is an easy-going fellow who has passed his school days at the same slow tempo. l'le ably managed the baslcetball team, served on various school committees, school orchestra, sang in the Glee Club and performed his school worl4 without any visible show of effort. Qllie has two hobbies . . . dancing and speeding down Main Street in the early morn. LAURETTE BURNS f'l.aurie combines the imitative powers of Fannie Brice with the literary ability of Dorothy Thompson. This latter quality won for her the editorship of the 1938 Per Annos, while her personality earned for her the coveted positions of vice-president of the sophomore class and president of the junior class. Added to these, she has excellent marlcs, successful chairmanship on Junior Prom committee, and high honors on the debating team. You've got a swell edge on life al- ready, l.aurie. Keep it upln JOHN LUDWIG Johnny or Sugget as he is dubbed, is famed for his powerful physique. l-le played a melodious trumpet in the up-and-coming school band, and ably managed the football activities last fall. As chairman of that historic Junior-Senior debate, he proved himself to be a very versatile young man. Johnny may be seen any friday night hitch-hiking westward toward Groton. Whats the attraction, HSug , love of the country 'P '? l1o

SENIGRS CHESTER ADESSA Chet , as he is popularly lcnown, is the type of pupil that St. lVlary's is proud to call her own. l-le possesses courage, leadership and initiative. l'lis football ability alone is sufficient to place him in St. Marys hall of fame. Chet has busied himself for four years with numerous extra-curricular activities, including the freshman class presi- dency, dramatics, debate and various committees. St. lVlary's is proud of her future admiral, for Chet has designs on Annapolis. RITA COOMBS Rita has been the mother in every histrionic venture since the third grade. She toolc her first role in the Jimmie plays and ended by giving a more than creditable performance in senior dramatics. Her musical ability is exhibited in the Glee Club and on the dance floor. Rita's charm and generosity, her efficiency as a class secretary, her worlc on dance committee are all so well known that it is unnecessary to expound them. BERNARD JOHNSON Bernie's dulcet tones have won him the appropriate title of uBingH. Although he is not very tall, he is a powerful fellow and his fame as a football player has been fully earned. ln spite of his phlegmatic nature he has proved himself a debater of no little prowess. Often we are forced to do without Bing's,' witty remarlfs, for a gloomy day invariably finds him home in bed. 12
