A great sign appeared in Heaven: A woman clothed with the sun, and the moon was under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars. CONSTELLATIONS The stars met all together In the sapphire hall o'er head Considering a diadem For Mary's lovely head. We're all too many now by far! The Constellations criedg Why we could make a veil of stars, For God's most holy Bride! And so they chose the brightest stars Their love to twinkle down Twelve fair and sparkling virtues-- They form her starry crown. Mary Donatus MARIA Volume 26 St. Mary's High School Pittsburg, Kansas ADMINISTRATION CLASSES GRADUATES FCREWQRD To preserve a record of the countless experiences of you and your classmates, this annual strives to capture the eyes and mind of the scholarship, leadership, the ac- tivities, and the character of St. Mary's High School. Throughout a quarter of a centu- ry St. Mary's has developed into a school of distinction under the con- stant vigilance of the faculty and the loving patronage of the Blessed Mother. There has always been a closeness between faculty and stu- dents and a deep concern for both by its administrators. May all St. Mary graduates, in- tellectually and spiritually alert, and imbued with Christian standards, contribute to the Welfare of their Church, community, and country. UN DERCLASSMEN ACTIVITIES SPORTS RIGHT REVEREND MONSIGNOR CHARLES A. SMITH We, the Class of 1966, wish to extend our sincere gratitude to Right Reverend Monsignor Charles A. Smith, whose keen interest and unfailing zeal helped to make our years at Saint Mary's among the most memory able of our lives. 4 211 REVEREND THOMAS COLGAN, Administrator From Whom We Receive Direction Administrators direct the school in its association with the community, and provide directives and experiences necessary for student growth. Father Colgan is the kind of administrator that most schools dream about but few ever have. St. Mary's is most fortunate that this smiling, youthful priest is ever ready to give of his time and service to the improvement of the school. We feel honored to have such a fine administrator at the head of our school. 5 Father Colgan ad- dresses the student body during an as- sembly. I ': 5 U SKQ Q Any number of topics might be under discussion by Sister Veronica, principal, and Mrs. johnson, office manager. 6 From Whom We Learn The faculty is an indispensable link between the student and the community he will eventually enter. Teachers pre- sent ideas, discipline youthful minds and stimulate interests. Often a teacher helps a student to discover a talent he did not know he had. Harder to measure is the lasting sense of purpose a teacher imparts to his students. Thus, through an efficient commercial and home economics program many students may go directly from high school into the World of business with capabilities and confidence already well established. The courses in home economics enable girls to learn about Woman's most important contribu- tion to the world--namely the raising of citizens that will be a credit to this present World and the World to come.
