In September, '52, thirty Freshmen were started on a high school career with Sister Rosalia as homeroom teacher. Agnes Diller was elected President, Jerry Maloan was Vice-President, Dick Jeck was chosen to take minutes, and Bob Morrison, our class dues. New additions to our eighth-grade graduating class were: Dorothy Leavitt, Kay Motley, Mel Wachter, Mary Ellen Hribar, Margaret Meyer, Bob Morrison, and Pat Peak. We lost Bob McAlpine, Dorothy Leavitt, and arl Vandry in the mid-term shuffle. Maloan, Buset, Lyons, Amershek, Peak, and Patterson were gridiron men as Freshmen. Barbara Monsour began her career as cheerleader. Amershek was our sole basketeer. Sharon Thomas and Dick Jeck were our Marian candidates. Socially, we held a Freshmen-So homore box supper and dance. In May of '53, we very gladly assumed the title of sopqiisticated. . . SOPHOMORES September '53 found us minus Diller and Morrison, but plus Harriet Bouser, George Lasley, and Gene Pittman. Class officers were: Dick Jeck, President: Tom Patterson, Vice-President: Mel Wachter, Secretary: Dick Shaw, Treasurer. Monsour was again cheerleader. Connie Zucca was attendant to the football queen. On the football squad were: Lyons, Shaw, Iori, Buset, Amershek, Patterson, Peak, and Mallpan. On the hardwoods were: Maloan, Amershek, Lyons, Iori, Buset, Shaw, and .Tec . At the semester, Pittman and Bouser moved, but Diller returned. Amershek and Hribar represented us in the Marian contest. Our class boasted all the band majorettes: Esch, Casterman, Diller, and Zucca. Smardo and Monsour were Ma Crowning attendants. It was this year, too, that our boys edited the Class o'5d,Paper. Franken- stein sparked our Hallowe'en dance. Time flew and soon we were. . . JUNIORS We entered room eleven to find Sister Luke again with us as homeroom teacher. This year we lost Kay Motley, but added Carol Kastler and Pat Stahl. Third year leaders were: Carol Kastler, Prexy: Patterson, Veep: Smardo, Secretary: Shaw, again in charge of the money. Our contributions to the MBL Championship team were: Buset, Jeck, Peak, Smardo, Iori, Shaw, Amershek, Patterson, Lyons, Dixon, and Maloan. Zucca was again at- tendant and Monsour cheerleader. Diller became Drum Major, and Casterman, Esch, Ferns, Wachter, and Zucca led the band lines. On the basketball roster were: Maloan, Amershek, Buset, Jeck, and Shaw. Diller was elected Sodality Vice-Prefect, and Monsour appointed Junior Red Cross President. Monsour represented St. Mary's in the Sodality Apologetics contest. Kastler and Patterson were our Marian candidates for King and Queen. Shaw and Meyer were our May crowning attendants. Agnes Diller was our representative at Girls' State, while Shaw, Patterson, Lyons, and Jeck went to Boys' State. -We sponsored the Christmas dance, the mock coronation, and the valentine dance, and final y the Junior-Senior Banquet-- A Cruise to Hawaii. Time was running out and at last we became. . . SENIORS For our final year we had Sister Paula as sponsor. Mark Lyons presided, gavel in hand, with Smardo ready to take over. Jeck hounded us for dues and Sharon Thomas did secretarial work. Our class decreased with the loss of Julie Casterman, In football under Lon Farrell were: Buset, Peak, Maloan, Amershek, Jeck, Smardo, Shaw, Patterson, Cronister, Iori, Lyons, and Lasley, Amershek and Maloan were co-captains and Connie Zucca was football Queen. Monsour was cheerleader for the fourth consecutive year. The majorettes continued with Diller as drum major. Maloan, Amershek, Jeck, and Buset were our representatives on the court. The Marianette was edited by Carol Kastler, while the Marian was co-edited by Connie Zucca and Dick Shaw. Prefect of the Sodality was Margaret Meyer, while Barbara Monsour served on the Council Advisory Board. Senior Future Nurses were: Zucca, Kastler, Esch, Wachter, and Diller. December saw Carol Kastler as Miss Merry Christmas. Thespian officers were Shaw, Zucca, Kastler, and Diller. May Queen was Carol Kastler with senior attendants: Meyer, Iori, and Smardo. At the end of a bus , happy year came our senior trip. It was a memorable experience and probablfy the last week our class will ever spend together. For, after our return, we found ourselves at class night and finally, through igih school. We can close our history with a sin le statement: We graduated May 27, 195 . At last we have achievec? our goal through work, prayer, and joy. T.o Father Stremel and all our faculty, we say sincerely: Thanks for everything, and particularly for the spiritual inspiration which will be for us a priceless heritage in future years. Lessons will be the death of me. A young boy who blushes is better than one who turns pale. I like workg it fascinates me. I could sit and watch it for hours. Things will come to those who wait, so why all the rush. I never knew him out of patience. He's a marvel when awake, but hard to awaken. I don't like noise unless I can make it myself. All great men die youngg I'rn feeling badly. Not afraid of work, just not in sympathy with it. If you haven't met him, it's your sorrow. Dignum est optima in vita exspectare. Always laughing, never sad, sometimes good, never bad. Happy go lucky, carefree and gay, she's the sunshine of each new day. She was born to giggle and giggle she must. Giddy and gay in a carefree way. The longer you know her, the better you like her. Either I'll find a way or I'll make one. Full of life and always smiling. All things change. Small in stature, large of heart, always willing to do her part. What she seems to be, she really is. It's nice to be natural when you're naturally nice. When she smiles, there's mischief in her eyes. She's happy here, she's happy there, she spreads her gladness everywhere. Not too quiet to be boring, not too loud to be annoying Sweet and neat, in all--a girl complete. Gentle and neat, dainty and sweety a lady indeed from her head to her feet.
