Mary Arm 0 ll GLASS Ill 'l'0llY September, IQ52, St, Mary's High was blessed twenty-seven green crew members. The seniors showed their gratitude by initiation and a welcome into high school. To lead us through a difficult voyage, we chose Bob Harper as main skipper and Pinky Ray Ryan as first mate. Margie Eichhorn kept the log and Tom Tierney collected our coins. We sailed with six new members: John Meyer, Bobby Britt, Joyce DeCastro, Jim Hirst, and Marilyn and Carolyn Fox. Bridget Lyons kept the world in touch with us as class reporter. David Esch, Bob Harper, Pinky Ryan, Damian Buset, and Frank Simoncic represented our class on the gridirong Pinky and Dave earning letters. Margie began her career as cheerleader, Socially we held the freshmen-sophomore dances under the direction of Sister Lucille our class sponsor, Mary Kay Bertone and Frank Simoncic were our Marian candidates, To open the new gym we gave, with great pride: Dave, Frank, and Pinky. Again Dave and Pinky made the first team, We were very proud and happy of our new St, Mary's Gymnasium, As May rolled around, we cast one last longing look at our childhood, and then, we became Sophomores. Our second year brought harder work, but under the guidance of Sister Vincentia, we managed to get through it, Bob Harper was again elected captain of our crew, this time with Margie Eichhorn as first mate, Pinky took over the secretarial position and Dave found himself as our new revenue officer. We lost Tom Tierney and Jim Hirst, but in their place carne a new friend, Pat Madden, only to leave together with the Fox twins at the semester. This was the year out class really gained fame with Central City, a variety show written and directed by the the class. Also, we gave the seniors quite a battle with our annual candidates, Pat Madden and John Meyer. On the football squad we had Ryan Esch, Simoncic, Harper, Buset, Gerwert, and Farris, while we boosted the basketball stars by giving Frank, Dave, Pinky,Damian, and Bob. Finally after a hard year at sea, we reached port and were given the title of Juniors. In our third year Sister James sponsored our class and we added three more voyagers: Ronny Robit- aille, Mary Ann Vinardi, and Bob Kastelic, Otu officers remained the same, Cheerleading position was once more filled by Margie, Our football boys were Dave, Frank, Paul, Henry, Pinky, Fred, Bob, John Meyer, Leo, and Damian, Mary Kay and John Pawlowski ran for annual queen and king. During basketball season we cheered for Pinky, Dave, Frank, Bob and Ronny. We surrounded the seniors with Moonlight and Roses at the junior- senior banquet and gave them a night to remember. But as those seniors graduated, we found ourselves sailing on and on into the last year of high school. John Pawlowski held the stern and Margie helped him. JoAnn Cronister noted the final words in the log while David again pirated our pockets. We said goodbye to Bobb Britt who moved to Washington, and also to Marilyn Radell who went to North Carolina, But, as always, we added to our crew, this time it was Tony Langford, Johnna Gilbert, Sandy Braun, and Warren Miklauz, Margie became head cheerleader, and under her direction we cheered the Panthers to the very top--M,B.L, Champs! We were all proud of Frank, Pinky, Dave, Ronny, Paul, Damian, John, Tony. Eddie, Henry, Fred, and Bob on the football team, The Champs elected Patty Yoakam as Football Queen, We saw Bridget Lyons and John Meyer crowned Queen Marianette and King Marian XV, Ronny was editor-in-chief of the school newspaper, while Bridget and and Bob edited the annual, Ronny, Frank, Pinky, Dave, Tony, and Bob gave a good account of themselves for St. Mary's in basketball, We were grateful guests at the junior-senior banquet, enjoyed the senior trip, and finally achieved class night and graduation. We said our goodbyes to Father Stremel, Sister Paula, and all the faculty, And with hope in our hearts and heads lifted high we voyage into the future, However, we are not aloneg beside us sails our ship of good fortune, The Spirit of St. Mary's.
