H . - 97 - ' 7 . . . . . . . 7 rostrum once a month We all planned and produced many assemblies Dave MeCarthys idea of a boys glee club became a reality under the dlrectnon of Mrs Edward McCauleV We umted 1n prayer for our beloved ex principal Brother Nicholas Mary who recelved his invitation to go home for h1S eternal reward He was a man lll whom we saw God and surely Our Lady recognized the resemblance and led htm to her Dlvlne Son May he rest m peace A ceremony accomplished the distribution of the awaited blue stone mounted on gold The glrls tmsted one another s rmgs, that IS, for as long as they held on to them The first Mary Day the glrls honored the ueen of Heaven Basketball commenced with a pep rally which filled the audltorlum with strong cheers for the team The cross country track team won 1ts first trophy And the credit went to SW1ft Bob McNamara A week of programs dedicated to Chrlst the King were pre sented durmg Cathollc Youth Week The Chrlstmas Show returned with all its joy I' he boys gambled and the girls sang With a Little Bit of Luck and lt was umntentlonall We went on yaca tlon but it did not keep us away from school We were lnvlted to the annual Alumm dance and pern11tted to mingle wlth the colleglate crew and to get a few polnters Study' Study' they all told us Returning to school on January 2 after the vacation we split our paths For once the bohunks were ln demand as they spent the first day moving desks tables chair equipment The glrls spent the day house cleaning the evacuated classrooms Spmmng wheels shaung baloons eating pizza readlng palms, munchmg cake auctlomng hats, srppmg qokes and vlewmg the stomach of 1ron made Sister Marilyn and Brother Ronald mlsslonary mllllonalres On lHlSSl0Il day thc semor class stepped through a calendar to model the latest fashions The student body was charmed or so they said John Smith coached by Mr Lynch placed first Ill the southern N Y State DIVISIOH of American Leglon Speech Contest and fourth highest ln the lNew York State competition The Senlor boys and glrls were mvlted to be the guests of Cod 1n the secluded silent clolstered re treats at Gonzaga and Ronkonkoma respectively The boys presented their Semor Class Show star rlng Rich Fontame and hls swing band The barber shop t11o of Stevenson Peck and Pace and the well known glee club appeared Speaking of shows there was one that will long remam Ill our memory and lmaglnatlon The inspiration artistry and realistic actlng presented in the Song of the Scaffold will long be remembered Great credit must go to Slster Immaculata and her assistant director Eileen Kula kaskl The professional acting of ,loan Dandrea Fran Rella Pat Malom John Smith and Helen HlClClIl3ll was the talk of the town The annual Father Daughter Dance was a happy proud evenlng tripping to the light fantastic wlth Dad only to be mterrupted by a show III which the senlor glrls gave an l!'lV1tElll0Il entitled Papa Wont you Dance w1th Me?
