81 SAGAMORE STREET LYNN Many years from now when I have lost that flush of youth which a senior bears so well I shall have this autobiography and book to bring back to my mmd all the events in which the Class of Nineteen Hundred and Forty six took part I shall enjoy them very much Although I did not enter any of the clubs I was an ardent supporter of each activity Yes I can boast of attendance at most of our basketball and baseball games where as my fellow classmates can tell you I cheered our team on to victory But these joyful days sped by with such rapidity that I hardly realized that graduation was here and I had to leave my dear Alma Mate Now I must direct my own foot teps on the way of life but first I want to express my deepest thanks to those who have trred to start me on the right road with a good Catholic education 231 NORTH STREET SALEM The foundation of my life began by the snde of my beloved aunt shortly after my coming to thi planet called Earth Wxth love and understanding she filled the first five years of my existence and then tenderly bundled me off to Saint joseph s Grammar School When I had completed the customary eight years here it was decided to finish me off at the Saints After my four years stay I can truthfully say the purpose of sending me has been accomplished An all round Catholic education is much I love it all how much I shall miss every book every student every teacher It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all is the motto that applies most aptly to me I am deeply grateful tc my aunt to my Dad to everybody for everything May I express this deep gratitude by living as a true Christian gentleman' folm Douglclr Denmr 19 NORTHERN AVENUF LYNN Down through the corridors of time with the speed of Mercury has de parted my treasured grammar school life Sending wistful glances back into the mysterious panorama of pictures that we call memory I live over in happy fantasy the oys ot this carefree stage Great indeed was the change that followed then from the childhood pranks of the elementary stage to the more serious slde that encountered me as a student in the higher realms of learning The problems that arose durlng that period were quickly overcome with the ever helpful aid of the good Sisters Now suitably equipped mth the mvulnerable armor of knowledge and of faith I go forth to make of myself a living memorial to the devotion of mv parents and the zeal of the good Priests and Sisters With such a background I cannot fall to attain my goal Us 3 Y 7 . . u , I 7 I 7 ' ' r. . 10111913 1117111611 Clllifillfy 257 CHESTNUT sraiaizr, LYNN At the peak of my scholastic career, I pause for an instant to do a little reminiscing. Life is strange, I decide, it is full of laughs and tears. Yet we carry on. So it was with me, but the laughs were always given the prefer- ence. Dances, proms, plays, games--all were fun. Even the classes offered many a laugh, and strangely enough I was often the cause. Impromptu entertainments for holidays and the like were also happy affairs. At present my plans are variedg my mind, unsettled. Shall I step forth to an office career, into the Held of radio, into the realm of journalism? To whatever lies before me, I go out to face it equipped with a solid scholastic founda- tion and fortified by the strength of our Catholic Faith. I fully appreciate the years spent at Saint Marys and only regret that manhood has come upon me so suddenly compelling me to close after me its doors sooner than I wish Rzcbmd Tlyomor Conlon 14 MT, mm LYNN When I arrived at the very youthful age of six my mother decided tha it was time for me 0 take my place among the dignitaries of the world Thus I first paraded in martial steps along the path of lighter education on to High School Avenue As a freshman I was puzzled as a senior I was still more puzzled My last year was the most exciting of all and the least troublesome It seemed that at last I had found my bearings and was fiying through the course to success Being a straightforward autobiogra pher Ill admit that my account suffers from the omission of numerous noteworthy achiey ements The obligatory conservation of paper however deprives you of the enviable pleasure of reading them So I bid a trium phant farewell though much remains unsald Rolau t Fmmzr Conlon 14 wira s1RLET Lxrsrs: Bang Bang It was the fourth and into this world I came Feeling th at I did not know what was in store for me I began life cautiously to such an extent th t I haye almost outdone my birth for excitement Lite 1 Saint Patrick s moxed on pleasantly year by year until I was graduated from its portals I entered Saint Mary s then knowing that four full ye lrs of pox and happiness awaited me In my galety oyer being so grown up I neglected to plan on hard study The hrst two years of my stay were ycry normal I think Wlien I began the junior stage I felt I was going some where to where I didnt know As graduation approaches I am almost sorry to leaye the school that has done so much for me I am deeply in debtcd to my parents and the Sisters They haxc pushed and pulled until at last I un ready to leaye T14 . . john Edward De Varwlfwj 605 WIESTERN AvsNu12, LYNN It was on Labor Day in 1928 that I made my appearance in this fairest of cities. Though the entire nation was celebrating a holiday, my parents were even more especially jubilant, for theirs was the added joy of having born to them a son and heir, True to the ordinary run of things, I had the mumps, measles, and whooping cough. My first real big day brought my enrolment in the grammar school section of this great parochial institution of learning. On rapid wing the years flew. Then came life with the higher ups. During these four years I staged a private battle in my en- deavors to master diflicult subjects. At times they loomed as impossible as the taking of Okinawa or Saipan. With the patience and understanding of my devoted parents and the good Sisters to support me I have conquered With pleasant memories and a good education tucked away in my mind I proceed to surmount the problems ahead Paul Augurtmc Devw cam 291 NAHANT ROAD NAHANI As I resign myself to the difficult assignment of pennmg my autobiogra phy a sudden fear grips me Perhaps I shall forget to inform my admiring public of my birth on 'viarch twenty second in the year Nineteen Hundred Twenty nine and of my taking my place as a citizen of Nahant Or prob ably I shall neglect to mention my elementary years at Saint ohns Swampscott a short swim from the peninsula Ah but here my memory serves me well' I recall clearly my entering the Sophomore Class at Saint Marys and hearing my bewildered classmates moan What no girls' Life m Rooms One and Eight passed quickly and happily Soberly I real ized upon attaining the senior rank that this was my last year so I set out to make it the best year yet Indeed it was' To my parents and the Sisters I extend my heartfelt thanks for these great joys folan Edward Doane HUMPHRIY STRLET SWAMPSCOT1 There is an analogy I think between life and a symphony and between the actors and the composers of the music My symphony is unfinished yet I would like to describe what has been written thus far The first moyc ment deals with mv early education at Saint john School Swampscott With the second moyement the music rises in cresccndo as my days at Saint Mary s are recorded in vnid half notes Accents are placed on sports for it was in basketball and baseball that I was most actne At thc dramatic part of my symphony there is again much crescendo Suddenly thc music ceases I go forth now to write what I hope to make the most beautiful part of my undertaking May the inspiration and instruction giscn mc while I wrote the moyements already completed be cscr prcscnt to lsslst me in a successful completior of my unfinished composition 5161 , .
