Student government day program spon- sored by the Medford Elks started with reg- istration, and oath of office Monday, Feb- ruary 18, l957. Students then visited the various radio stations and the television sta- tion to be interviewed. They then returned to the Elks temple for a banquet that evening with their parents and counterparts. Tuesday the studen ts took over their offices until 2:00 P.M . The rest of the after- noon they went on tours of the city. This program increased the students' knowledge ofcity government and also furnished them two enioyable days. Students participating from St. Mary's were, Jack Birmingham, Sandra Montgomery, David Espey, Marcia Beeler, and Jim Darland. JackBirmingham, Councilman at left and Don Vanice from Prospect learn more about their city government from Ray Schumacher, County Assessor. Baqa' and Cjiftla' State Marcia Beeler and David Espey prepare to leave for the Girls' and Boys' State session Iune 1956. Boys' State was held in Corvallis at Oregon State College. The Girls' State session was held in Salem at Williamete Univer- sity.
