A victory-minded five with nothing to lose and everything to gain, the mighty Maroons quickly proved themselves equal to any team in the state. Handicapped by lack of height and experience lonly two regulars returned from last year's Championship team? St. Mary's again turned out to be one of the ter- rors of the Valley Parochial League. Losing only three games in a 14 game schedule, twice to SS. Peter and Paul's, League Champs, and once to a highly regarded Alpena Catholic Central team, coach Sam Franz turned out such stalwarrs as center Roger Dolson, forwards jerry Burns and George Moody, and guards Ed Troester and john Crowley. Barring an unexpected drop in spirit and sportsman- ship, St. Mary's will undoubtedly turn out another bas- ketball powerhouse in the forthcoming season.
