Claris! and I Cam Cfizmge life World. 7116 second half of the twentieth century has arrived. The world has undergone many changes, and it is into this world that the seniors of nineteen fifty are graduating: a world filled with loss of faith in God. But we can do something about this, for with Christ's standards of living we can change the world. We have equipped ourselves with a knowledge of our reli- gion and have resolved to put our Catholic philosophy into action. We have studied and dis- tinctly evaluated each subject, for it is our duty to learn and do good with our knowledge. In social affairs we have kept uppermost in our minds the teachings of good social living and the love of our neighbor. A strong Christian spirit of fair play and sportsmanship has pre- vailed in our athletic activities. With this preparation and with the grace of God, we can change the world into a happier place. The foundation has been laid, the building must go on. Dezfz'cafz'011 This, the thirty-sixth edition of the Labarum, the seniors of nineteen-fifty dedicate to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Seat of Wisdom. May she obtain a small portion of wisdom for us, so that we may be guided in the walk of life we have chosen and be Christ-wise in our re- solve to change a de-Christian- izing world. W

The original standard was designed under the Emperors direc- tion. It is described as a long spear, over- laid with gold, which with a traverse bar formed the figure of a cross. At the center of the cross the letter X intersectd the letter P. From the crossbar of the spear was sus- pended a purple banner with a Latin in- scription, In hoc signo.vinces Cln this sign thou shalt conquerb. Although the term labarum, which is of uncertain deriva- tion, was possibly familiar at an earlier date, it is associated with the above mean- ing. Lafmmm Plzlvfirhea' by ST.
