FRESHMEN The dawn, the first part of the day. Just as the sunrise symbolizes the be- ginning of the Longest Day, so does the Freshman year symbolize the start- ing point of our part in life as students. Freshman year is a year of firsts. The first time to hear such words uttered as America est pulchra , the Hrst time to see the dancing lights of the school's annual bonfire or the hearing of the yells ofthe first pep session. Freshman year is the time for new dis- coveries. The time to experience the new methods of changing classes, the time of finding the many doors open- ing into the labyrinthian halls of the school, the new ways of unlocking your lockers five to the right, back left to thirty-five and then on to seventeen. Freshman year is the time for looking up to others. Looking up to those mighty seniors hovering over at the Frosh-Senior mixer or grinning and bearing the carrying of all those books which you carried in reverence to the upperclassmen. All classes, even the best, must be led. The ample and able leaders who have taken charge of their Freshman class this year are: Paul Johnson, president, Cathy Ackil, vice-president, Jim Early, treasurer, and Jean Florent, secretary.
